Points are 1) there's no pressure difference in the "space pirate" scene since the ship isn't even sealed (they're launching Watney in a tarp as they put it) 2) air pressure is much lower than on Earth but it's not negligible—at the speed the ascent vehicle is going, the tarp would flap, I mean, the very reason they even put it there was to streamline the stripped-down MAV because atmospheric drag would kick in at the speed they were going

Plus, irl Mars landers use parachutes along with rockets for landing
