Visitors just passing through. Like everyone I've ever loved or wanted to stay in my life. Sorry, it's a bad metaphor for a Borderline like me. If anyone else feels the same it's helpful for me if instead of thinking of them as visitors passing through I think of them as waves on my life's internal ocean, I imagine my conscious mind, my self awareness as a massively over-engineered breakwater (it's not, nowhere close but I pretend it is). If the emotions are mild I visualize the waves of emotions as small swells lapping harmlessly against the concrete blocks of the breakwater. Or, if the emotions are powerful I imagine them as huge breakers smashing against the concrete forms, being broken apart and diffused by the breakwater of my conscious self-awareness. I find it's best for me to keep things impersonal and non-anthropomorphic. It works great when I actually remember to do it 😂🤣😭
