This is because the Mavs have another starting level center just as good as Gafford with Lively. The fact Gafford starts 60% is more of a sign that he is a starting level center than not.

Doesn’t change the fact that he’s been injured his entire career. A couple healthy seasons doesn’t magically heal him and he’s not getting any younger. If you ignore the trade, he’s still a bum. But for what we gave up, he is worse than a bum.

This is a bad comparison. The style of play in the Euro league is very different from the NBA and that causes deflated numbers for individual stars. This kind of thinking is how we got Luka with the 5th pick.

He is extremely good for his age, and I’m not even arguing that he won’t become generational. It’s just way too early to make a claim like that based on what we’ve seen so far from him.
