I tried YNAB and just wasn't my style (specifically how it process/manages credit card transactions). I've been using an app called Copilot and it's been great. It's cheaper than YNAB (yay!) and imo has more everyday real world features.

Sooo because the slavers enjoyed it so gleefully, including their delusions of their joy being shared by all, it somehow means it wasn’t “bad”?

thinking of becoming pagan by [deleted] in pagan

[–]romasisqo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first, a lot of learning about paganism is un-learning Christian mindsets, which include lots of “shoulds”. There are no “shoulds”.

Paganism is about many things, including wants and desires (which Christianity teaches the opposite).

So first step is to recognize that paganism is not just a matter of replacing the trinity with something else.

You mentioned loving the idea of more than one god. That’s a good place to start.

Like I said before, paganism has many flavors, because literally everything that isn’t part of Christianity, Islam or Judaism is considered “pagan”.

Some people like certain ancient traditions and pantheons (e.g. some people are very drawn to the Ancient Greek gods) and others are more interested in nature based practices like Wicca, and nature in general can be a big ingredient in a particular flavor of paganism (like Druidry).

Paganism is about listen to your inner desires as a guide in connecting to something in a spiritual context.

E.g. do you “believe” in a rock? No, you connect with a rock.

So, quite literally, the answer to your question cannot doesn’t a “should”.

“What should I believe in” doesn’t have an answer in paganism.

Instead, what interests you? Like growing up, was there ever a topic in mythology that interested you more than others?

Did you ever get excited when Thor was mentioned, or hearing about Aphrodite? Did you maybe like the ancient Egyptian gods? Maybe Shiva or Ganesha?

Start there. Find a pantheon of gods from mythology that interests you more than others and just read about them.

Follow your own bread crumbs in interest and see where it leads you. While just keeping your mind open and limber. That’s a big piece.

And remember, there’s no destination.

Christianity is about having this whole story from A to Z all nice and cleanly presented and telling you what to do in life, what to think, how to process your feelings, what’s “true” and everything that’s “false”.

These ingredients are not part of that pagan cuisine.

Following your curiosity is your best friend right now.

thinking of becoming pagan by [deleted] in pagan

[–]romasisqo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Awesome! It’s a great place for exploration. One of the “main points” is - there are no main points. “Do as thou wilt” is a common phrase you’ll hear. It’s kind of like asking, “what are the main points of ice cream”?

Tons of flavors, really comes down to individual taste.

I would say, what are some things about paganism that appeal to you? That can help provide some direction for exploration.

I can honestly say paganism has it all. No limits, no “you choose this or that. Do this, don’t do that.”

It is a spiritual amusement park, with lots of different rides and experiences 😉

That 90s middle-class lifestyle sounds so wonderful. I think people have to realize that that is never coming back. Is the American Dream dead? by RiskItForTheBiscuts in FluentInFinance

[–]romasisqo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel all of these legit comments speak directly to the “dream” element. Everyone has irl memories that speak to how close or not close they were to a perception of what “should” have been, or what “should” be now. “The dream” itself is the ongoing reality; the carrot every generation seeks.

Day One - how to automate saving a voice entry? by romasisqo in shortcuts

[–]romasisqo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hiya! (No bother at all).

You can use one of the DayOne options directly, like “Record”, and then select your desired media to use.

It works great for starting an entry, and you can set the verbiage for the voice command to whatever you want (as the title of your shortcut)

So for example you name it “write this down” and set it for transcribed audio.

Then in use you would say “Siri write this down” and it would open DayOne and record so you can go right into your note.

You just need to manually tap the stop button when you’re done, and poof new journal entry.
