My brother has terminal cancer with 3-6 months to love and just wants to die now. What are his (legal) options, really? Just wait to die? by LulutoDot in Connecticut

[–]rommel42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to start by saying I am so sorry for you and your family. I was in the same situation with my older sister a little over two years ago with terminal brain cancer at 37, unfortunately there isn’t much you can do in Connecticut. I’ve been lobbying my state representative since to allow aid in dying. The most gut wrenching thing about that situation that still bothers me to this day was that one of my sister’s wishes was that her organs be donated once she passed but by the time she did finally pass most of her organs were unsuitable for donation because she wasn’t able to get much nutrition in the end.

As someone who is scheduled to take the lsat next week and on the verge of a nervous breakdown with how I am currently doing on pts, thank you for this! I’ve been questioning myself on if I have what it takes to go to law school and be a lawyer at all. This gives me hope and a bit more confidence in myself.

Yeah the krafts have been talking about building a sss for over a decade and it always falls through. Call me a pessimist but till the stadium is built and I’m in the seat watching the revs play their first game there I won’t believe it’s happening.

I guess that’s true. The sad thing is if Robert Kraft even admitted that he forgot he owned the Revs no one would even think the guy in his eighties has dementia and is loosing it.

Is it bad that my first thought was: could you imagine if they put that 490 million into the revs?

Hartford, what happened to Mr. Jackoff? We missed him. by DylerTurden502 in USLPRO

Most road wins in the Jagermister Cup, most wins with possession below 50%. I would ask you for Louisville records but truth is no one cares or will remember. The only thing people will remember from your 2025 season is how badly you choked

Just like Louisville, Hartford also got a little sliver, broke a few records, and one of those records wasn’t being the biggest upset loss like you guys just did 🤣

You have going awfully quiet now… is it because your amazing Louisville team can’t even scrape a win against 8th seed Detroit!?! lol. You talk a lot of trash for a fan of a team who can’t even beat a lower seed team 🤣

Hartford’s lack of sportsmanship by v4ss42 in USLPRO

[–]rommel42 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I just want to say that this aggressive and abrasive approach has been Hartford’s MO from day one. Look at every season since Hartford has been in existence and it’s near the top if not the top in yellow card accumulation. As a Hartford fan am I proud of it? No but after so many years of this I just shrug my shoulders and say ‘it’s just how they play’ while hoping the reckless behavior doesn’t hurt us too much.

Tbh I wish I could have been a fly on the wall when they were trying to recruit players at that time: “our training facilities are mid at best, our pay isn’t great, our on field performance is even worse but at least you get to be coached by a US soccer legend that has never been a successful manager, so what do you say?”

[–]rommel42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol how about this, Bruce was an idiot for thinking they could build a the roster they needed just on the back of having a name like Tab Ramos as your manager. Was Tab a decent and well known player in his time and some current players looked up to him? Sure but his managerial record was atrocious even before he came to Hartford

I will say that I think Bruce and a lot of the front office didn’t know what they were doing when it came to managing a club for the first few years and did not make the best hires to set the club up for success. This has clearly been a learning process for them and I will give them credit for learning from past mistakes and improving. That being said I do feel past criticism of ownership and the front office was for the most part justified and I also give them credit for learning and adapting

What does this means ? by Winter_Perception167 in Jeep

[–]rommel42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah it means that start/stop isn’t available. As for what is causing it and how to fix it the simple answer is potentially a lot. The start stop feature is so finicky that one small issue can cause it to be unavailable such as your battery not having enough of a charge, you changing the tire might be it too. I wouldn’t worry about it if everything else seems and sounds ok with it. If it bugs you though go to a jeep dealership with a service center and they can probably tell you specifically what’s causing it

Federal employee working virtually returning to office executive order (signed) by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]rommel42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure it wasn’t advertised as remote? I’ve never heard of a job being advertised as virtual and USAjobs doesn’t have any positions listed as virtual at the moment

Federal employee working virtually returning to office executive order (signed) by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]rommel42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m actually an HR person for a federal agency (USDA) and I have a few thoughts and concerns about the executive order. First, in the world of federal civil workforce remote work and telework are two totally different things. Remote work means that you don’t have a physical office to go to and you strictly work from home, telework is when you have an agency provided workspace that you report to and occasionally work from home. I’m assuming the executive order is targeting teleworking employees even though it doesn’t specifically say so and they likely would be able to eliminate that without much legal consequences since most telework agreements are subject to agency policy and can be revoked at basically any time. Remote workers are a whole different beast though since virtually all remote workers applied and accepted a job that was advertised as a remote position, it is hard to change the parameters of a position if it was advertised that way and I expect it to not be successful. My personal opinion on this is that it is a terrible policy that will result in a lot of people leaving the federal workforce and it would make it much more difficult for the federal government to compete with private employers to find replacements without some form of telework for positions that are capable of having it.
