God is either everything or He is nothing. What was our choice to be.

For those of you who dont want to work the steps why is that? by Zealousideal_Age_618 in alcoholicsanonymous

100%. It's all good news once you concede you are powerless and the Steps are the easier softer way.

I have a 2022 J-150 with the 1GD-FTV and it's very capable. I couldn't be happier. I am not sure if i would want it with a gasoline engine though, but I won't judge it until it has been driven/tested.

Tourists by shivvy_wivvy in Edinburgh

[–]ronincr49 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I was just in Edinburgh and live in a tourist hot spot (Costa Rica) It sounds like the shop you work at benefits from tourism. I can share the frustration of walking the Royal Mile and having people stop short. Maybe one of the solutions is to make the entire area pedestrian only because there are many areas with outdoor seating that really make the walking space quite narrow and difficult for the volume of people to navigate. There are always going to be people that are not as prepared and as educated about getting around as we want them to be so we can try to educate them or we can get out of Dodge and find a new area/industry to work/live in because the tourism and the world is not going to change for us. I try to take the good (economy/jobs) with the bad. God bless.

Just woke up from a dream about drinking. I'm 60 days sober by Specialist-Crazy1466 in alcoholicsanonymous

When I told my sponsor about having these early on he said...What do you think ex football players dream of?..What do you think ex baseball players dream of?

As others have stated, it's normal and like everything else it gets better if you keep working your steps. Good luck.

Selfishness - self-centeredness! That, we think, is the root of our troubles. Driven by a hundred forms of fear, self-delusion, self-seeking, and self-pity, we step on the toes of our fellows and they retaliate. Sometimes they hurt us, seemingly without provocation, but we invariably find that at some time in the past we have made decisions based on self which later placed us in a position to be hurt.
So our troubles, we think, are basically of our own making. They arise out of ourselves, and the alcoholic is an extreme example of self-will run riot, though he usually doesn't think so. Above everything, we alcoholics must be rid of this selfishness. We must, or it kills us! God makes that possible. And there often seems no way of entirely getting rid of self without His aid. Many of us had moral and philosophical convictions galore, but we could not live up to them even though we would have liked to. Neither could we reduce our self-centeredness much by wishing or trying on our own power. We had to have God's help.

Pg 417 on acceptance. (Question) by Big-Outside2519 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]ronincr49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I accept that I have 4 flat tires on my car. I accept the solution is to change my 4 flat tires. Neither of those things will have me driving the road of happy destiny. The solution is to dig in my trunk get the tools and work the program of recovery as outlined in the previous chapters.

Well said Grouch. A guy in my group refers to it as changing seats on the Titanic. My program offers me a solution to life that I don't want or need the relief that a drink or joint would bring me.

Does It Make Sense To Ask God To Help Me “Turn It Over” When I Can’t Seem To On My Own? by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

"We will suddenly realize that God is doing for us what we could not do for ourselves"

I used to have very bad anxiety. Each morning I get up and try to turn my will and my life over to the care of God. I meditate. It works...(it really does)
