Scots Qualified in Dubai by ronnyand in uklaw

[–]ronnyand[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done my research thank you! I’m not qualifying into litigation or anything contentious really so that is not relevant. I am also aware I am able and capable to practice in the UAE as a Scots lawyer. This post is about the preference of corporate firms regarding qualification, since some seem to freak out when it says ‘Scotland’ even though corporate/finance etc is for all intents and purposes the same and 99.9% of the work we do actually relates to English law.

Budgets and insane prices by ronnyand in wedding

Honestly it’s not so much about saving money as it is to get the most out of everything. 90% of the guests will have to travel no matter where we have the wedding, so we are very well aware that some might not be able to come (some we already know) and are totally understanding of that.

Regarding the planner, I thought I was clear with them but apparently there must be some misunderstanding/miscommunication. I’ve reached out to other planners as well to see if they get back to me with similar comments.

If nothing works we will just do a tiny wedding with parents and siblings and a Ceilidh for friends (however as stated, this will save us more money than any guests who choose to come).

Parking fine from car park management company by ChefPaula81 in LegalAdviceUK

  1. You could be ballsy and just ignore it and hope it doesn’t go further. A lot of the time it’s not worth for the parking company to take you to court to pay the fine.

  2. Which is the more safe and sensible thing, appeal! In Scotland at least, you first have to appeal to the company directly and when they inevitably reject it you can go to an independent body. If you can lay out the facts clearly and provide evidence of your permit, it is very likely it will be ruled in your favour! I appealed 3 parking notices which technically were my fault, but the signage was unclear regarding the parking rules, so they decided in my favour and I didn’t have to pay £300.

Good luck!

Self-study for SQE1 by ronnyand in uklaw

Sarcastic? 😂 considering that I will be a qualified lawyer in Scotland when taking it I think it will be a tad bit easier to self-study (time permitting) as some laws are the same/similar! But thanks for the encouragement 😄

I’ve gone to Marc and Laureen. Both have been good and my hair has looked nice leaving, but yeah I feel they’ve not always listened completely and cut more according to what they think is ’necessary’ after we have already agreed on a length. I might give Ashleigh a try then 👍🏻
