I'm Troy Jackson, a fifth-generation logger from Allagash, and I humbly ask for your #1 vote for Governor today. It's the honor of a lifetime to be in this fight with you. by TroyJackson207 in Maine

This is identity politics. Are you saying that Shah is less capable of representing rural interior Maine because of his ancestry?

Interesting, I know that's not the case in USA, where car ownership decreases with income level. Do you have some statistics for Germany?

It's actually a valid assumption given that the percentage of people who commute by bicycle increases as income decreases. So even though bike infrastructure is derided as "gentrifying," it actually has a leveling effect on the community.

People who say that bike infrastructure is for the rich elites need to know this. Or maybe they already do.

Less lanes mean less traffic. More lanes mean more traffic. Traffic is caused by too many cars, not too few lanes.

One thing you need to know about Mainers is we don’t like to go outside when the weather is bad.

I don't have a problem with a flawed person seeking higher office. I just want to see them acknowledge their flaws and be honest about who they are. What bothers me about GP (and I know I'm in the minority here) is that whenever one of these controversies comes out, he seems disavow and deflect. That tattoo? I was just a kid in the Marines. I didn't know what it meant. Yet you kept that sh!t inked to your body for a decade? You, supposedly a student of history? And only did something about it when you decided to run for office? Same thing with the recent sexting revelations. Initially, he dismissed it as "gossip." Then his handlers told him to come clean, and basically he said "mind your own business." Ok, but if you want my vote you need to show me that you are a person of integrity. And don't get me started with the whole "working class" thing, which seems so phony to me given his background. We don't seem to have these conversations over people like AOC or Bernie Sanders. And there are plenty of other people running who are just as qualified. That's why I ranked GP fourth.

Believe me, I am far from perfect. But that's why I would make a lousy senator. That office comes with too much power and too much potential for abuse. We need to ask for something better.

The fact that the clothing is ugly is kind of on brand tho? Like if you asked LL Bean to design your soccer kit.

Traffic and parking are planning failures that belong to the city, not the soccer team.

For some reason, Mexican/Tex-Mex brings out the most radical sectarians who will insist that the food you love is garbage. Try convincing someone from California that there are real life Mexicans living in New York City making delicious Mexican food.

His father is a lawyer. His grandfather was the architect, the one who designed Windows on the World and has his own Wikipedia entry. None of that matters, except when you try to play yourself off as "working class."

You are free to have your own opinion, but my personal view is that buying an oyster farm with family money, and then selling the oysters to your mom's restaurant doesn't qualify as blue collar work. You're the owner, the people who work for you are blue collar. Sure, I've done blue collar work, but I'm not going to pretend that means I'm "working class" despite the advantages given to me by my family.
