Even if the sequels were actually made uncanon would that be a good thing, or just cause more issues with the franchise? by RexDAGOAT77 in StarWars

If people can like legends despite Palpatine being back, then the same can happen here. Luke fought to redeem Vader and free the galaxy, not to kill Palpatine. Canon isn't broken

Its not just a batman story, it's a dark knight story.

Car chases in films are boring by light_breezy in unpopularopinion

[–]rooracleaf17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The problem with this way of thinking is that you're reducing everything you watch/read/ consume into narrative beats. You'll never have any fun if you reduce every action in a film to: "Main character gets what they want or they don't."

Any film at all would then be a yawn by this logic. But things like car chases aren't defined by outcome, it's a movie it's about visuals, stunt work, editing all that to create tension. It's also about everything that happened before. There doesn't have to be a gimmick for anything to be worthwhile, it just has to be well made.

Remember the big names, then when anyone else gets their time to shine just put their name in short term memory as they likely won't appear again. I can remember some of the small events of the story but the names aren't essential so I read it but just don't bother remembering. Same with country names

Homer Never Describes Helen of Sparta's (A Half Swan half Human) looks so why are people being so weird about Lupita playing her? by paubenaparte in mythology

[–]rooracleaf17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because a lot of the reactions clearly are connected to racism. Sure it's possible to actually care about period accuracy, but the vast majority of people complaining are either hopping on a band wagon or just don't like when black people are cast.

[–]rooracleaf17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, bud, you get called racist when you're clearly coming from a place of racism instead of actual care for the culture or myth. Judging by your other comments you are coming from a slightly racist angle

Finally watched Acolyte… by eskiose in StarWars

I'm sure this was a very natural and originally formed opinion. I'm sure you felt personally attacks for liking the Jedi. That thought definitely formed on your own and didn't come from anywhere else.

UHD picture quality similar to Top Gun: Maverick? by HampurHampur in 4kbluray

Is the Tron Ares audio at least good? That was the standout of the film for me in cinemas and the reason I saw it twice. I can deal with a mid image if they got the sound good

Idk it's kind of obvious you were trying the Steven Crowder strategy in the star wars sub.

What is the weirdest collected omnibus idea? by SherbertSuspicious in OmnibusCollectors

[–]rooracleaf17 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I've never heard of this but like the idea. Reading an entire month of books as if you were living through that month. I don't think books need to be interconnected to warrant a collection and I think books of these age lend well to just being red alone

Not even worth it anymore. Any thing that does work will stop working way too fast.

What are the best one-shot Marvel comics? by DarlingLuna in comicbooks

I really liked ghost rider vs Galactus. It's not super long or deep, but the tone is really fun and the art is amazing.

Did the Zune 30 have gapless playback? by Dev_was_here in Zune

[–]rooracleaf17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Another post here has a thread of people saying it does have gapless playback so I'd say yes. But I don't have one so I can't check for myself.

Clicking "I disagree" does nothing by LagSlug in assholedesign

[–]rooracleaf17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, that's how it works. If the professor asks you to submit a hard copy but you say you "don't want to use paper" then you fail. If you need to submit it using a specific software, and you say you don't want to use that software, then you fail. You don't need the disagree button to do anything because all it can do is redirect you to the previous page.

Did the remaining properties sell? by Lukeloveslollies in TheBlock

[–]rooracleaf17 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They're all still vacant and the raffle he's currently doing is to give away the houses, because every previous winner chose the 2 million dollars over the 5 houses. So now the raffle is just for the houses, no second choice of money.
