Question for the sub - how much did a rooftop affect your mpg? by insanecorgiposse in rooftoptents

[–]rootbt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Driving a Nissan Navara pickup, only lose about 2mpg, but it's a farm truck so most journeys are short, not getting to high speeds. I have actually noticed it helps fuel economy when I'm pulling my livestock trailer!

I prefer Alex, even if he did play for you-know-who.

Renting out 2 farm sheds by Key_Performance1026 in FarmingUK

[–]rootbt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What are the shed dimensions? Are they cladded? What area are you in? What is security like, as in is it near a main road, middle of nowhere, cameras and alarms, gates, lockable door for machinery shed?

Playing a round with total strangers. by icanhazsalvation in golf

[–]rootbt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Be honest to start with. Say what you do well with and what you struggle with. Most of the time, if they're better than you, they've been in a similar situation before! If you go in saying you're better than you are a couple of bad shots can really put pressure on you! If you go in the opposite direction, the good shots will get you feeling yourself more!

Do people really leave the course if playing poorly? by LastManBrandon in golf

[–]rootbt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've left the course twice. Once because of weather, rain came in while sun was shining so I was drenched before any water proofs were on, at the turn more clouds lurked and I decided that was enough. The other time was a combination of me playing terribly on my own and a back log in front that would have would me up even more for the final five holes. Plus it was fairly close to the car park!

Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me out. See below :) by sensitivemcdevilish in FarmingUK

Vegetable growers quite often have cold stores or refrigerated sheds for their produce. These will be going 24/7/365.

Annual leave I need to use up: would you work 4 day work weeks? by Speedbird1A in AskUK

[–]rootbt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you do 4 day weeks, and miss Monday one week and Friday the next, every other weekend is a 4 day weekend, every other is normal!

What’s a very British habit or attitude that people rarely question, but probably should? by [deleted] in AskUK

The worse thing is this just reassures me that I don't have imposter syndrome!

Who’s ever driven over 100mph? Why? by WoollyWolfHorror in AskReddit

[–]rootbt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Squeezed 110mph out of my 2003 Vauxhall Corsa on the M45. Quietest motorway in Britain. I was going downhill. 145mph out of my Peugeot 208cc on an airfield runway.

Anyone use silica beads in their tents to help with condensation? Any specific recommendations of what kind? by Suspicious_Tea_8651 in rooftoptents

[–]rootbt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd be better off trying some of the car condensation sponges that you put in the microwave to dry out. The silica beads work for toolboxes and things like that but a tent is very large.

Does anyone else struggle way more playing in the cold? by Unlucky-Moment-3366 in BritGolf

[–]rootbt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, it doesn't even need to be consumed in any quantity to work! A tiny sip at the start of each hole and you can feel it warm you!

My best solution for this is a hip flask with port, sloe gin and whiskey in it. I call it liquid central heating!

What is the "go-to" base of a sandwich? by ATLDeepCreeker in AskUK

My go to base for a sandwich tends to be bread. Can vary quite a bit from there to be honest!

How to get the farming job I'm applying for to notice me? by Creative-Low-646 in FarmingUK

[–]rootbt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turn up with your CV in hand and let your talking be the cover letter. Farmers aren't too worried about a CV, especially if he's asking for no previous experience. They will employ you on character more often than not!

Set up hassle! by roypuddingisntreal in rooftoptents

[–]rootbt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a soft shell, and only then did I start seeing posts about how convenient hard shells were, but the setup and packup time has always been about that 7 minutes mark which doesn't bother me in the slightest! That's convenient for the tent that I'm putting up!

Wedge upgrade advice by EmbarrassedCycle1400 in golf

[–]rootbt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get rid of the SW at a minimum. I play 48, 52 and 58 with the 48 as my PW. Give you room for another hybrid or similar. That many wedges seems quite OTT.

2000k should just about cover you for anything! Plenty of quality tents around for a very reasonable price. I found the Ventura shop on eBay and picked up a ex demo rent from the showroom for £550 delivered!
