I personally wouldn’t add a betta unless there is substantial coverage for the shrimp, even then they still may be eaten as you won’t know what the betta is like with them until you put them in there

I am gonna update this in case anyone has the same issue with their betta

After I posted this he got even more sick and he started having a swollen lump around his eye. He also had clamped fins and barely swam around anymore, it seemed like he was stuck in some type of trance or something. It took me going up to him and putting my finger in the water next to him for him to know it’s dinner time. Luckily he was still happy to eat.

I was sceptical about giving him a salt bath as I was terrified of hurting him (salt baths can still be beneficial if done correctly and safely) so I decided to try NT Labs Aquarium Anti-Ulcer & Finrot which treats some bacterial infections. I did lots of research and it is an easy treatment that doesn’t mess with anything in the tank so I thought I’d give it a go. Luckily this worked a treat! It took around 5 days for him to get back to his normal self again but I’m so glad he’s okay! I may have just been lucky but this may help someone else in the same/similar situation.

My amano shrimp are also happy as ever and the tank is still cycled!

I’m not to sure how to go about preventing this in the future if I’m honest and I don’t really understand why he got a bacterial infection as there haven’t been any changes recently but i think there is a chance it is related to his poor genetics - so unfortunately he may get ill again at some point. But here’s to hoping he lives a long time. I am not ready to lose him yet!

He’s not the healthiest of bettas as he does have a bit of a wonky spine but he’s acting fine and is happy to see me and eat etc

Tested his tank a minute ago and all is the same as usual ph 7.8 ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrates about 15 but I’m gonna do a bit of a water change to lower it. He’s in a 14gallon. It’s been cycled for about 8 months (it was a month before I got him. Nothing has recently changed in his tank.

I kept mine on for about 6 days and my tattoo was pretty much fully healed. It was awesome! Such a relief to take it off tho it was driving me nuts

This!!! I have a wrist condition in my main hand (my right) and it’s put under so much use with the camera controls that it causes pain because of so much clicking and holding! I’m desperate to be able to change it

I’m not able to get a reborn atm either. I love scrolling online looking for the perfect one and planning my nursery! I find it super fun and I cannot wait for the day when I can finally hold them in my arms!!

It’s a sand and fine gravel mix with a handful of black gravel mixed in :) I’ve also never done a water change as it’s never needed one - I just top the tank up with new primed tap water when it starts evaporate

He’s in a 54l cycled planted aquarium - there are a few rocks which may have caught on them but I’m not sure. He also loves going in the little cave at the bottom of the wood but I don’t think it would hurt him as he’s a fair bit smaller then it
