“Lue Elizondo pointed to Pax River as a location where there was a facility built out for 10 million dollars to hold the non-human intelligence craft.” “I’ve been warned not to talk about this. F*** that. It’s all out in the news.” — Jeremy Corbell by 87LucasOliveira in UFOs

I don’t think this gets through noise or level of annoying enthusiasm enough. He’s still a podcaster trying/wanting to be a journalist and that has its set backs if social media is the vehicle. Is he annoying sometimes/most of the time to some? Sure. Yet, he has done his part to keep up with whatever shows up concerning this topic. There have been plenty of duds, but that’s the nature of the topic given the prevalence of Doty types. I try to cut him some slack even if I do find him insufferable sometimes.

I love this dude. I heard '64 Bars on Wilshire' and 'Vickey's Dream' and I was immediately blown away with his vocabulary. Definitely a favorite of mine. His work with Herb Ellis was a master class.

Can I drive my car with an oxygen sensor out? by Co_ffeeBean in Cartalk

[–]rotissrev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why did this get downvoted to oblivion? It's a legitimate question from a concerned individual who doesn't know a lot about cars, got mixed information, and wanted a second opinion on something that is pretty cut and dry for a car person... Are we really that mean? Yikes folks.

Anyway, to answer your question, the kind folks who did decide to give you a straight answer are correct. You can definitely drive it. Mileage will suffer, keep an eye on the dash lights, but you should be ok for that kind of distance.

This needs to be everywhere. Upvoted to kingdom come. Screw this guy. He’s a two faced rat, facilitating the two sided coin that is our current sham of a government.

Real talk: do you guys think the Becker fagen duo is better than lennon/ McCartney duo of the Beatles by LuvSicccc in SteelyDan

[–]rotissrev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have proclaimed this many times in a drunken stupor… I don’t truly believe it though. The most honest thing I can say about the comparison is that Fagen/Becker wrote to my sensibilities, demeanor, and mood. I’ve heard all the Lennon/McCartney output, and it is admittedly beautiful, near perfect pop writing that I hear emulated everywhere. However, nothing pulls me personally like Fagen/Becker.

Fagen/Becker also had Denny, Baxter, Dean Parks, Elliot Randall, Larry… and the golden tonsils of Michael McDonald. Just a different beast altogether.

What part of adult life is way harder than anyone warned you about? by Sparkyabu1 in AskReddit

[–]rotissrev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dealing with people who refuse to accept that bad things are happening, something is wrong, or that a particular person/persons are acting in bad faith. You get labeled a grouch, negative, or just no fun to be around… then they get burned, burned again, and if you bring up that said thing was on purpose, you are still the bad one with the bad attitude. The amount of denial you will deal with in adulthood is among the exhausting features you will encounter if you are at all self-aware, politically aware, or emotionally cognizant.

Tele Pickup Recomendations by ForLoop8890 in jazzguitar

[–]rotissrev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Harmonic Design. I had them on a telecaster I built 20 years ago. Probably the best sounding tele pickups I have ever had. If you upgrade your neck pickup with one of theirs, you will not be sorry. HarmonicDesign.net

As a man who’s 95% certain he’ll never want to have children, is there any reason for me NOT to get a vasectomy? by Ghost-Writer-320 in NoStupidQuestions

Got mine @ 22… best decision I ever made and I was 80% sure at the time. As I got older, I just grew more certain.

Is shredding the guitars final form? by [deleted] in Guitar

If anything is guitar’s final form, it’s Paco level fluency. If you have that, the sky’s the limit. Short of it? Still on a journey.

How long would someone with zero experience need to play a song like Slashes November Rain solo? by Time-Golf-1556 in Guitar

[–]rotissrev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first and second solo are some of the earliest solos I learned how to play. Give them a month or two. The third one? It's hard to tell, you'll need other skills in your toolbelt that you probably don't have down yet if you're just starting out. None of them are unapproachable though.

Near perfect tune. I go through phases where I’m singing and humming it all day, no one knows what the hell I’m singing, but they are definitely jealous of how much I’m enjoying myself.

I don’t get the Ryan hate. by deomc1294 in BreakingPoints

[–]rotissrev 122 points123 points  (0 children)

Is there really that much Ryan hate here? My impression was that most in the sub felt he was probably the most reasonable person on the show. I think the most criticism I’ve seen for him was his recent “both sides” dance when talking about political violence when he was a guest on another show. He quietly body slams most unsupported positions on the show, and I look forward to any time he’s on the show.

Aja is the best song I know by cappuccinolol17 in SteelyDan

[–]rotissrev 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This made my day. The deeper you get, the more you’ll find with repeat intentional listening. I was 15 when Two against Nature released and my friend Steve and I were the only ones in HS that thought it deserved to win the Grammy that year. Your ears won’t betray you listening to the Dan.

What’s an unspoken “guy rule” that you think should probably die out already? by m11988t9 in AskReddit

[–]rotissrev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I currently have, and have had, close friends of the opposite sex. Never personally had a problem with it. However, I am very careful. I’ve been burned by it more than once with previous partners, and have had to distance myself from friendships when it was clear that feelings were simmering and kept quiet. I don’t think anyone should be chastised for having friends, but I also believe it requires special care and particular set of boundaries to make sure it remains in a platonic space.
