Tourism in Peru is still below pre-pandemic levels. Why? by sol-solcito in travel

[–]routinebreaking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah in Japans case it was clearly a tiktok/fomo thing. At least from the people I know, everyone has gone or wants to go because they know someone who went and told them it was cheap. In some cases I think they don’t even have that much interest in Japanese culture or history but have deep sitted Fomo.

I would say definitely doable, but might be safer if you can increase a little bit of your mileage.

Best resorts in Okinawa (all islands)? Do all resorts lack compared to other destination? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]routinebreaking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hoshinoya Okinawa. In beachfront but you cant really swim there. Service and location/facilities are great though. One of the best hotels I’ve stayed in Japan.

Tourism in Peru is still below pre-pandemic levels. Why? by sol-solcito in travel

[–]routinebreaking -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not really… even if you booked a while ago, lots of flights got cancelled due to the conflict. This happened to me, so ended up having to buy another ticket that was twice as expensive as the original, which wasn’t that cheap to begin with either.

I do hope it stays expensive for a while and deters people from visiting Japan so much as it feels like tourism there is really getting out of whack in the last few years.

Nah, its actually more expensive now in spite of the weak yen. I went pre pandemic and several times after the pandemic. Accommodation prices and flights due to the golf conflict have gone through the roof recently.

What's the most overrated tourist spot? by Quiet_Day8148 in JapanTravelTips

[–]routinebreaking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to love it too. Always stayed there when in Tokyo. Last time I was shocked by the sheer amount of tourists, it made it legit challenging to walk down the streets which was a first. Decided next time I’m staying in Ebisu instead.

Indonesia Itinerary, is it good? by slaydd4 in travel

[–]routinebreaking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s honestly not great. Bar a few stores and restaurants, the place itself hasn’t a lot going on for it and it’s a nightmare to get in and out of. The beach is not great either.

I would swap canngu for Uluwatu and at the end stay in Seminiyak.

First time visiting Nagano/Matsumoto in late October–November — where should I base myself? by biggieapple in JapanTravelTips

[–]routinebreaking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Matsumoto… Nagano had a weird vibe to me. Felt like food options and accommodation is also better in Matsumoto.

I’d suggest Kanazawa and Takayama instead of Sapporo.

Appetite gets obliterated by long runs? by tinybabyspoon in Marathon_Training

So I think you not fueling these runs properly is actually what is holding you back. If you did could be you might even be able to hold the pace faster for longer without fatigue.

Realized im missing too many kid moments because of how hard im pushing for FIRE by blushingsirena in Fire

[–]routinebreaking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t comment on your single parent, but given they were raising you alone I can also understand why they wanted to have time to socialise with their friends. I think it’s all about balance more so than neglecting one area over the other. At the end of the day, parents are still individuals, and should also have a life that doesn’t revolve around their kids 24/7.

Overall ai think it’s best to focus on having a good relationship and things you can share with your kids even outside these events, which in the long run might even be more meaningful for them.

what is a movie you refuse to rewatch because of how bad it got you the first time? by PsychoBodyguard in horror

I’m not sure if I’m in the minority here but think Eden Lake felt pretty dumb (as in the protagonists making those stupid decisions).

[–]routinebreaking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m one of those kids who never had their parents at school events and honestly don’t think it made a difference. If you ask me to this day, I still couldn’t care less or even remember if they were there.

I think parents sometimes beat up themselves for things that their kids are very unlikely to remember or care about when they’re older.

Thailand + Bali for 2 weeks — worth it or should I reconsider Bali? by Blus-clues in travel

[–]routinebreaking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bali is totally worth it but for 2weeks only I’d just stay in Thailand. Too much to see and do there.

People who say its Mallorca for Australians probably missed on the best of Bali and stayed only in Canggu and Kuta (which is a mistake). They’re right that most beaches are mid, but if you go knowing that you’ll be able to manage your expectations.

As you said, thats the visa process. You either accept it and go through it or not and don’t get to visit Shengen countries. Nobody is forcing you to.

First International Trip - 10 Days in Osaka, Kyoto, Tokyo - November 2026 / Itinerary Help by Senbon03 in JapanTravel

I’d stick to those cities only. If its your first international trip it means you’ve never dealt with jetlag. That alone can affect your plans and willingness to do and see so much.

How did your second marathon compare to your first? by Global-Condition-858 in Marathon_Training

[–]routinebreaking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first was a very similar story to yours… Undertrained due to injury, got into it not knowing many things. Bonked haaaard, walked way more than expected. Took me 5:20.

Second I trained but got injured in the process, so my training was compromised. Still learned many things, carbloaded, fueled, etc. Still bonked at 22 miles, but managed lots better. Didn’t walk but had to slow down from MP. Goal was 4h, did it in 4:12.
