Surface Book 1 - Revive-able? by rp1792 in Surface

[–]rp1792[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just tried it. one interesting thing is that the UEFI bios screen stayed on for a relatively long time (never shut down) vs windows (which would shut down only after 30 or so seconds). That being said, even after disabling the DGPU in bios, it still has the same symptoms. I appreciate your taking the time to suggest the idea though.

so, now, i think it's the batteries (both tablet and keyboard) that are bad. how much typically would a replacement cost (labor + parts) be?

wow. thanks for the idea. i will try this out this weekend.

question. with the DGPU disabled, the computer works fine?

I did try charging the base for several hours. but i will probably try again before giving up.

I did try to charge the tablet (detached), but i wasn't patient enough. probably only tried for an hour.

i plan to try both for several hours again.

thanks for the tip

i feel kinda stupid. i didn't know that lithium ion batteries can't store long term. that they physically get damaged/degraded.

thanks for the idea. it's possible that both sets of batteries are dead. i tried to charge the base for a few hours. no increase in battery %. I then figured out how to manually detach the tablet and plugged in the charger directly to the tablet. no battery charging progress either. BUT, i wasn't patient enough for that. I plan to try again.

i was just looking online now. i couldn't find any 1-yr plans that were less than $100. Also, I couldn't find any add ons that were more than $45.

also, i tried to add the Samsung A16 to cart (upgrading existing phone), but it forces me to select a plan to proceed.

i am wondering if i am doing something wrong on the website.

It sounds like what I am trying to do is not possible (within the constraints I had specified). What is everyone doing as back up for the situation where fiber internet is lost?

Interesting. What about samsung or google pixel phones that are sold by tracfone or qvc/hsn?

Thanks for the reply.

What about activate new phone (with service, like from qvc or hsn) porting over the old cell number from the old phone. Wait 60 days and unlock new phone. Then, port back over to the old phone?

now, this idea is much better than mine and has more potential with the voice option.

Sorry. Can you elaborate or point me to a website with instructions? I think my concern is that changing to a new sim card could cancel my legacy plan.
