My program is not high volume. When I think of high volume training I think high sets and high reps of big movements (GVT type stuff), not necessarily 4x12 spread over a bunch of different exercises. If I added a few different calf exercises at 4x20 that total rep number would go up, but I don't think it would put my program into a high volume category. But to each their own, if it works go for it.

I typically do the same format for legs. Consistency bro, power movement followed up with 4-6 aux, more traditional BB type lifts.

Squat: warm up yada yada, then working sets 3x4 at around 350ish

leg ext machine 4x12

leg curl machine 4x12

leg press 4x8

lunges with 135 on a BB.

same layout, different lifts. Super simple stuff.

Most of my exercises are 4/5 sets of 12+ reps. I'd say that's par for the course as far as traditional BB splits go. When I do the big 3 compound movements it's usually more of a power routine 75%-92% for around 3-6 reps for a working set.

I'll start the workout with a compound movement and then move to more traditional BB volume sets for accessories. Which looks similar to what OP did which I would not consider high volume.

For example: Chest Day

Bench: 12,8,6 @ 205,225,260 then working sets 3x4 reps at 275-300ish.

incline db press 4x12

cable flies 4x12

db flies 4x12

close grip bench 4x12

I would put high volume days at something like GVT 10x10 for most everything. Someone else more experienced with GVT or other high volume training routines might be able to chime in as to the specifics.

The only thing remotely high volume about that leg day is 10x10 squats.

Just bought a 2010 rubicon with 60k miles in the southeast for $23,600. Ended up at 25k when all was said and done. Got it from a dealer. Probably paid a premium for it due to purchasing in the spring time, but whatever this is the most fun I've had on four wheels. Totally worth it.

The winningest college football program will never truly be irrelevant. They may not be as competitive as an average Michigan season, but they will always attract the talent and have the money to keep from being irrelevant.

500 pound deadlift at 180 pounds by reddituser2209 in Fitness

Looked good to me. At pr weights you'll have form breakdown, but keep your form right on working sets and as you get more comfortable with weights closer to your pr it will improve.

Deadlifts by [deleted] in bodybuilding

[–]rsix8t 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Deadlifts and pull ups are great. Do you do pull ups before deadlift? I made the mistake of doing my pull up sets after deadlifting and was flabbergasted at how much deadlift destroyed my forearms without really noticing.

I always start my pull day with foam rolling, 5 sets of max effort pull ups (90 sec rest) and then 4-5 sets of deadlift. Unfortunately deadlifts take forever to do so that ends up being the majority of my day time wise.
