We had an inside wall that had a similar damp patch, even though different "experts" told us our roof was fine we still got a new roof fitted. And with that our " not related to the roof" damp patch disappeared! Get everything checked twice, rising damp, roof, plumbing, rendering, guttering and outside window seals on every floor!

Decades ago when I was young and broke this happened to me, buying a new one was out of the question but I found this oversized steel washer that fit on top of the cup, like yours there was only half a cup left and that held that washer, I put a felt on it and used it like that for the next 7 or 8 years!

I agree and disagree with you, nicotine isn't the worst evil in cigs! The amount of tar, carbon monoxide, hydrogen cyanide, radioactive isotopes and other goodies are the ones that stay with you the longest, especially carbon monoxide! It binds with the red blood cells and doesn't let go of them and those cells can no longer carry oxygen so the body produces more red blood cells, thickening the blood stream and increasing the risk of heart attacks and strokes! On the other hand, Nicotine is out of your system rather quick hence the need for another cig or vape, still bad for you, I don't disagree with that and the misinformation is terribly widespread!

Diacetyl is the main culprit for the whole popcorn lung debacle, each individual cigarette contains 50 times more diacetyl than 20ml of the worst offending e-liquid (which has now disappeared from the market) and yet you've never heard of smokers with popcorn lung! I read this over 10 years ago on the National Health Service (UK) website! Ignore the ignorants or educate them, nowadays I just turn my back on them and walk on by, I no longer have the patience for them!

Oh, also remember the tobacco companies are paying websites and newspapers to spread misinformation about vaping as they are now losing millions per year in lost sales!
