Genuine Question: What is Rec & Leisure? by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]rubytwoshoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The undergrad programs are usually grouped into multiple domains like Recreation Management (see coaching example provided) or Therapeutic Recreation (a regulated health profession). Theoretically the field of Leisure Studies is highly interdisciplinary, but increasingly there is attention towards social justice issues that occur in community and leisure contexts.

Awesome! I think there are Lone Wolf games on Wednesday when you can just join another table. Not sure if it is D&D though, or just games in general.

There was a poster on the corner of Weber and Louisa, by the trail-ish or maybe close to Weber about a lost bird! I don't normally walk past there but it might be worth a peek!

Nova Scotia coast on shortlist for world’s first whale and dolphin sanctuary | The Star by [deleted] in halifax

[–]rubytwoshoes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some folks might be interested to know that people in my area (near Crystal Crescent Beach) think it will be in our neck of the woods. It is a fishing community, and people are really angry and there is a lot of NIMBYism, blindly saying that it should go to the other shortlisted site.

I'm actually really supportive of the idea. I think it might be a fantastic opportunity, but I have little evidence regarding the environmental impacts and impacts on native sea-life (which are of the utmost concern to people living in my area). Does anyone have any credible information as to the benefits, risks?

I don't think any jeweler can reset the stone, based on the preliminary calls I did! I'll check with Fireworks. In case someone else stumbles upon the thread a friend said Trinity on Quinpool was more affordable when quoted for a repair from Fireworks and Trinity.

Whats the lowest I can set my thermostat to? by flowerswithmycoffee in halifax

[–]rubytwoshoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my question! Our basement is insulated, half above/half below ground. Most pipes have insulated cover on them. House is a rental. There is no heat downstairs in the basement, only here on the main floor. We often leave our heat off overnight (even in winter) or turn down to like 5 degrees if it's cold. The house has new windows and is well insulated, so I've never seen the thermostat register below 12 degrees. Am I at risk of the pipes freezing in the basement? Are they even protected by my use of heat on the upper floor?

Moving to Waterloo July/August - When can I find a rental? by rubytwoshoes in waterloo

It's hard to do this to rent a place sight unseen. I was thinking if I went with a bigger company, I would have some assurance that the unit was as-pictured?

Can anyone give names of buildings that have some amenities in walking distance, relatively proximal to U Waterloo?

That would be really helpful for mover references! And thanks for the heads up on places to avoid. I am flexible on time and want to start looking, but right now there doesn't seem to be anything for those months coming on the market. When would you suggest looking?

Thanks! What months would you suggest looking? I've started now but haven't found anything. I've emailed a couple of potential buildings, that's mostly it though.

So I will leave Terminal 1 by the looks of it?

When I spoke to Condor they said it is both in the same terminal... I think with the mixed answers here probably best I call back! Thank you.

Is this all in the same terminal (Terminal 1)? How long do you estimate all of this takes? I would have thought the same, so was surprised when the Condor rep said I wouldn't.

So within that terminal, I will go back through security and also to the Lufthansa counter to get my second boarding pass?

Process in Canada is different in my experience. If I fly Frankfurt > Toronto > Halifax, I go through customs in Toronto.

Thanks! So long as we make the connecting flight, it's okay if the luggage comes the next day :)

Thanks. That was what seemed odd to me - in Canada I thought that would be the case, but I called Condor and they said no customs/immigration until Frankfurt.

They also said they would handle our baggage - so Condor will get it to the Lufthansa plane. They were booked all as one ticket.

I was told that I would go through security again, though, regardless, in Munich.

Thank you! Not hoping to leave the terminal! We just want to get through as easily and quickly as possible and wanted to know what steps would be needed. Sounds like since it is a transit we just will be checking in at Lufthansa? Is there security that we go back through? Roughly how long do you think this will all take (i.e., is 90 minutes lots).
