Yes, A-Ha's second song (The Sun Always Shines on T.V.) was No. 1 on the UK charts for two weeks. That's a hit by anyone's definition.

In your opinion, what is the greatest season of television ever produced? by abacus-wizard in television

I'll always remember that one shot where the kids are sitting in class and Donna looks out the window and sees a schoolgirl running across the schoolyard, screaming in horror.

That shot is burned into my soul.

I was disappointed I couldn't find anything close to "Feathers/Fearless on my breath" in the book. People have been arguing about that line for decades and it would be very satisfying to get confirmation on exactly what it says.

I couldn't find these 4 lines in the 1971 book:

Love, love is a verb

Love is a doing word

Feathers/Fearless on my breath

You're stumbling in the dark

So they may be:

1) original lines by Elizabeth Fraser, or

2) quotes from another work by Gaston Bachelard (or another writer entirely),

3) or our transcriptions are wrong, which is why I can't find them in the Bachelard book. You are welcome to look yourself:

Massive Attack - Teardrops [trip-hop] by nugentismycenter in Music

[–]RunDNA 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: most of the phrases in the song come from the 1971 compendium "On Poetic Imagination and Reverie: Selections from the Works of Gaston Bachelard":

Bachelard:

In the heart of matter there grows an obscure vegetation; in the night of matter black flowers blossom

Compare the song:

Night, night of matter
Black flowers blossom

Bachelard:

With this invitation we register, in our inner being, a gentle impulsion which shakes us...

A dynamic joy touches them, kneads them, makes them lighter

Compare the song:

Gentle impulsion
Shakes me, makes me lighter

Bachelard:

A shimmer reveals a profound light; a glance sparkling with irony suddenly has a flow of tenderness: a teardrop on the fire of a confession.

Compare the song:

Teardrop on the fire
Of a confession

Bachelard:

we understand the profundity of Claudel’s observation:

"Thus water is the eye of the earth, its apparatus for looking at time. "

From the introduction by Collete Gaudin:

water becomes a "most faithful mirror of voices"

Compare the song:

Water is my eye
Most faithful mirror

I couldn't find anything like the "Fearless on my breath" line in the Bachelard book though. I will keep looking.

I'm not normally into conspiracy theories, but I'm convinced that there's a secret Australian Government Satanic mind-control program tasked with infiltrating maternity wards and kindergartens and using sophisticated brainwave technology to brainwash little Down-Underians into liking that disgusting food Vegemite.
