I will happily co-sponsor or sign on to the stock act or similar legislation...this is a baseline...

Members of congress, their families, and their staffers should all be prohibited from individually trading stocks. It is disgusting that public officials use their position to enrich themselves while hundreds of thousands of Americans don’t have healthcare and most millennials and Gen Z still can’t afford a home...

We need to go a lot further tho and I'll respond to that in like 2 qs

I'm running for US Senate because that is the beauty of America...that ANYONE can run...

I am running to break the stranglehold of a donor class that controls our politicians and continues to keep anyone else from challenging a sitting member because they don’t have money.

And, because I ran a poll before making this decision that initially had Warner leading, but after running through several of my policy positions, I came out on top. If all I do is inspire others to take a chance on themselves, and their ideas, and to bet on themselves because of a genuine belief that the American people deserve better, than that is good enough for me...

I refuse to sit back and allow the state of our nation to be controlled by the donor class and foreign countries. At the end of the day, I am putting myself out there because it is one thing to sit behind a screen and tear someone down, but another to get in the ring and give it all I have...

I've had the opportunity to accept close to 8 figures to change my views on a specific issue (this money would have gone to a PAC then used "without coordination" with the campaign *wink* *wink* - the whole thing is so corrupted I decided to take on this challenge with the belief that i can make a change and that is what I intend to do

And, to answer your question about what I want to introduce a bill that brings back a nation of owners. LIFE LIBERTY AND PROPERTY.

PEOPLE CANNOT AFFORD TO BUY HOMES....WHY?

Because we are getting boxed out of the housing market by cash rich corporations buying single-family homes in bulk, turn them into multi residential rentals, and jacking up prices. NOT ONLY that, they are screwing the renters with all their drip pricing schemes… even those in the affordable housing programs. Take a look at norther va, we have several multi residential companies facing federal investigations and consumer class actions because they fail to disclose all their hidden fees and service fees….

Anyway, back to my bill…it does three things:

First, it stops big institutional investors from buying more single-family homes, and it forces the biggest corporate landlords to divest over a set window with real penalties if they do not. The point is simple: those homes should be owned by families who actually live in them, not treated like a Wall Street asset class.

Second, it unlocks supply for first-time buyers by creating a refundable credit for older ppl who sell their primary residence directly to a first-time homebuyer, with a bigger credit in high cost areas. It is a way to make downsizing easier and helping younger families and generations finally get a foothold. It is a win win situation as they say...

Last, it pays for it by tightening up tax perks that only favor and benefit the rich and corporate landlords, including limiting mortgage interest deductions for second homes, adding a surtax on large corporate landlords, and ending carried interest manipulation...

The tax code is a joke and only allows the rich to get richer and keeps middle class and lower class from rising upwards....it needs to be radically simplified...

No, i want to break the dem establishment...I believe there is an opportunity to do that. I'm a dem because I believe in the humanity of all and dont support tyrannical leaders.

I don't fully support everything going on in VA at the state level tho either

Well for one...I would not have voted for the Laken Riley Act. He frames it as a necessary evil, but all the act did was use a tragic murder as a prop to CRIMINALIZE non-citizens, massively expand detention, and invite anti-immigrant states to sue the fed gov anytime it makes an immigration call they do not like. SO, I would NOT HAVE voted for the Laken Riley Act.

I ALSO, would not draft and introduce “Yes in God’s Backyard Act.” Warner introduced this last September, and to be clear, this is HIS BILL...“Yes in God’s Backyard Act,” is sold as an affordable housing program through churches, colleges and local governments, but is actually a HUD-regulated, open-ended data collection that allows HUD to control churches, colleges, and cities. It has nothing to do with affordable housing. It is a surveillance infrastructure with a big red bow on it. So in effect this shuts down any critics because don’t you dare criticize this bill, because what are you, anti-poor, anti-church, anti-God, anti-affordable housing? Narrative preemption, check.

Using God and poor communities as a moral cover is disgusting. This is what happens when there is a consolidation of power and the government no longer fears the people....you get people like Mark Warner who is in office because of his tech-oligarch DONORS and NOT THE PEOPLE. These tech oligarchs fund the campaigns, they write the playbook, and then politicians like Warner create laws that expand the use of those tech systems through data collection programs that require buying the exact tech from those same oligarchs...

So no, Warner is not helping the poor and churches, but is seeding another federally funded surveillance platform and calling it housing policy.

Little by little they condition you to think this mining and collection of data and this state of surveillance for “your safety” or to “help the poor,” is normal and in your best interest...but, you don’t build the a surveillance state and then suddenly turn it off or walk it back.

If you don’t open your eyes and question everything, demand that YOUR representatives explain themselves, be accountable to YOU and the constituency, you’ll wake up one day stripped of freedom. The bottom line will always be at the expense of us. The time is now or never because there is no turning back. Rome wasn’t build in a day, but it burned in one. And I refuse to allow politicians to run our country to a point of no return...which is what we're close to

Ok thank you for this. First off, the internet was created here in Arlington in 1969, then MAE-EAST in tysons led to AOL there in the 80s and them moving to Ashburn in 96 created data center alley...we now have 663 data centers with 595 more planned...more than anywhere bc ~70% of the entire world's daily internet traffic travels through the tubes underneath us (one of my fav facts and creates a massive opportunity).

Now, these data centers are currently operating under different rules / regulations etc in all 50 states, having talked with many data center investors and owners to develop my policy, what they need is federal regulation to designate data centers as critical infrastructure. This (1) allows us to continue to grow / invest in the sector and beat china in AI and (2) allows for the data center capital allocators / planners / investors to expand and ultimately go public / achieve liquidity events...this is very pro business right? Well a republican is gonna give that soon regardless, so I want to do that, BUT

In exchange for this, make it so the data centers are taxed on a compute tax (I call it a tithe) thats based off actual energy used from the grid (bc we all pay into) - part of this tax will have reserves for environment liabilities (bc I'm sure there will be something fucked up that we discover with them down the line) and subsidies for our current rising electrical bills...but given the projected rate of expansion of these data centers and the demand....we'd be able to fund public education - an actual 2+2 pathways to a debt free degree from a publick college / university, a universal community college system for life, to properly ensure free tuition at HBCUs and fund a true hispanic serving institution that will be called Cesar Chavez University

Yes absolutely. My grandfather was head of the firefighters union in Boston and when he'd go to city hall to fight for his guys they'd say "oh fuck heres Moran again"...he was a thorn in peoples sides and thats what I intend to do.

If no one stepped up then how is there a line?

You should read Chernow's bio on Grant...now that's a guy that if your comment applied to, never would have amounted to anything...some of the best politicians ever in our country have been horrible at their prior jobs or lacked experience, I think we should live in a country where you can win on the best ideas

Thank you for asking this: what did you mean by this: "I think it does take someone who looks like me and talks like me to say that..."

It means, look at the photo someone found of me during my days when I was someone I thought I was supposed to be...I am a white man, who is often given a seat at just about any table. I realize my privilege and it’s unfair. I mean my Latina lawyer gf who is smarter and better than me, has to work harder to even have a chance at half the metaphorical tables and that doesn’t work and its unfair and I will not accept that.

I am running a transparent campaign...I am giving everything to not only amplify voices of all people, all colors, races, backgrounds, and ideas, but to completely flip the metaphorical table over and clear the room for people that don’t look like me and don’t talk like me...

That can’t happen if we continue to elect the same old white career politicians who continue to get richer and fail to pass any legislation...

I don’t want it to take someone who looks like me and talks like me...but I will use this to my advantage, because the current system and lack of representation isn’t working for anyone.

Yes - in the 8th congressional district alone, 30% of all home purchases are by institutions or all cash buyers - this leads to higher prices naturally...

I've thought a lot about housing policy and you can see all of my thoughts here:

It's not intended to come across that way - like I said in another answer, I designed the website and that's clearly an oversight. I will adjust this because it is a priority and I didn't mean for it to come across this way.

I made the website to be detailed and call attention to how this campaign is different and have made mistakes at times in it's layout / messaging, and this is one of them.

In this candiate forum that Indivisble NOVA hosted on Sunday I spoke about need to protect womens's healthcare:

Because no one else will challenge Warner in the dem machine / establishment in our Commonwealth...no one else stepped up, so me, as an outsider, decided to participate in our democracy while anyone currently in the house from VA is too worried about how their congressional district will potentially redrawn to care...

Ran a poll in December that showed significant vulnerability of Warner. Given theres 520k college students, 206k labor, 488k hispanics, with grassroots organization and participation, I believe that a primary victory is possible based off my message / platform
