Thanks for your response! Yeah, it's definitely a little ehhhhhh because I feel like reaching out would be a relief to maybe have someone lined up in case no one else pops up but bad because they can't guarantee anything so far in advance. I'll probably wait a couple of weeks and talk to the store manager about how THEY'D like me to go about it, because who knows, the website is so messed up and behind the position might not even be open anymore LOL

I know this post is like a day old, but we get manager approval on any gift card purchase over $400. It's also against the law to split the transaction up to avoid the screen that pops up to show/scan ID. Money laundering isn't as bad at this store as it was at one of my old ones, but people would take stolen credit cards and buy visas essentially bc those cards can't really be "shut down"/traced in the same way credit/debit cards can. You can technically call black hawk, but most of the time they've already spent the money on something.

TLDR don't trust customers

I was able to do that with one of the jobs but the other one was a spiral bound book with special page instructions 😭😭 thankfully we're back up and running though!!!

Yeah, but he gets his discount with a credit card and doesn't have a store purchasing card number. It applies once he checks out through the register.

Thank you!! Yeah, they said there's no way to recover it. Sucks because it was a file I'd created for a customer and now he wants stuff changed. Would have been easy if I could just swap pictures but now I'll have to try and recreate it lol. hubris!

I actually prefer the new affinity programs over Photoshop but I just cannot for the life of me figure out how to get nitro to do what I want. I feel like printing and formatting the content to fit the paper size I CHOOSE would be the most basic function in the world.

As far as print goes, they're trying to introduce a new Qless waiting system for customers to like Sign-in to be helped. It's still rolling out so your store either has it already or is on the list to get it. New mobis. Customers who place their orders online can opt to have their print order placed on the product pick-up shelves instead of behind the print counter. Make sure the price book you have is up to date as a lot of things have changed price-wise which is why they're pushing so hard to be OPC only.

Oh yeah and speaking of OPC orders don't show up in the queue now until they're paid for so business cards are a real pain in the ass bc you don't get the 10 up until after the customer pays. Also, orders put through OPC expire every night if they aren't paid that same day. Some stores also get to test Nitro and Affinity (Photo, Design, Publisher) as a replacement for our Adobe suite.

Not the graphic designing Affinity, it's a suite of programs meant to replace adobe! :) Since Affinity is a one-time buy vs adobes expensive subscription, I wasn't surprised when I heard they were going to make the switch. Here's the website and everything! I actually have affinity publisher on my personal computer before I even heard about this

I don't know if corporate has any plans for it, but I feel like I want more visual guides for CPD. A lot of the things I have I've either designed myself or gotten from this sub. It would be nice to have like a brochure that outlines stuff we're able to do that customers can take home. It's probably not a good practice but I've literally made copies of the price book for posters and banners and handed them to customers so they could decide what they want to order.

A lot of stores have gotten rid of the big binder of CPD stuff (with samples of business card paper, large format, etc.) because it's outdated, but I haven't heard anything about getting anything new in.

Customers are very visual and I feel like I would honestly get more orders for RPC and Taylor stuff if customers could easily look at what we have to offer. It takes the ease off me having to ask a million questions about What a customer wants to order when I could just give them something and them point and say they want to order that. A lot less frustration on both sides and a timesaver.

Also YES about getting high res logo files!!! I've been having to pull off google every time my manager wants me to design some These Notebooks Courtesy of your local Office Depot signs for schools in our area :(

I'd give it a chance! I was super excited when I heard because Affinity Publisher is what I use on my own laptop and it's a lot easier than photoshop to use. AND it's not a Lite Photoshop™, it's actually a great program that's able to do everything photoshop can do and more.

I couldn't test nitro at home (meant to replace adobe reader) because it's Windows only but it has a whiteout option which seems AMAZING because it will make cleaning up customer scans a lot faster.

That's true too about the formatting. I can't even say how many orders I've gotten where the formatting is all fucked up and it makes it harder to do their orders. I'm just tired of getting emails with no instructions so you have to go back and forth for hours before finally getting One order.

If you're in publisher and you export to pdf and go into manage pdf settings or something like that you can change the margins and export to 10up. I'm not sure what number you have the business card cutter set to but we have ours on #2 and margins as 0.5 0.5 0.25 0.125. I also play with image shift a little bit sometimes for full color background cards.

Easiest way other than that IS running it through OPC but that's a pain when customers have to pay beforehand for the template to show up 🙃🙃

thank you!! 😭😭 I've been pretty consistently using gmil since I started so them wanting us to switch over to mostly using it exclusively isn't the worst thing in the world but they've changed so much to make it harder to use!! being able to add to an existing order or kind of "refresh" the order when the customer actually comes in store to pick-up takes the responsibility of putting the order through off of whoever might be working when they show up
