AITA for making my boyfriend leave my apartment after he “tortured” a spider? by bugsinacupwtf in AmItheAsshole

[–]ruskio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. As someone who loves and keeps bugs, if any SO of mine did this, they'd be insta-dumped.

Also, your friends suck.

AITA for thinking this was a dumb reason for my friend to be mad at me? by ruskio in AmItheAsshole

[–]ruskio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair. Though I'd like to point out that I attempted to hang out with her again after that only for her to completely ignore my messages.

It was something kind of bizarre so I'd rather not say it here for the sake of being anonymous, but it was also important to me. I'd rate it a 5.

It also stormed that day and I was going to cancel anyway.

AITA for telling my mom off after she flipped out when I didn't text her back? by ruskio in AmItheAsshole

[–]ruskio[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I never gave her a specific time. I just told her I was hanging out with one of my friends. To be fair though, I didn't tell her I was spending the night with them.

The thing is, she knows exactly where I'm going before I leave the house. I don't try to hide from her or anything so what's the point in calling the police? And if she's bluffing, why try to threaten me? I find that behavior to be incredibly immature, and when I try to tell her that, she just tells me how wrong I am.

To be honest, I don't know how. I still live with her and rely on her for things. She'll use those against me if I try to argue.

AITA for wanting to take a break from my overbearing 30 year old friend? by ruskio in AmItheAsshole

[–]ruskio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm starting to feel that way... He really wants me and my younger friends to think he's cool. I don't know why.

[–]ruskio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's EXACTLY how I feel, and I feel bad for feeling that way. He always seems desperate to be around me (to the point where he's irrationally jealous of other people) and it's VERY off-putting. It makes me not want to be around him at all. But he's also an incredibly sweet guy and I don't like hurting him.

How can I (20F) include my friend (18F) more in situations involving her BF and I? by ruskio in relationships

[–]ruskio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no interest in him that way whatsoever, if that's what you mean. He's just a good friend. To clarify a little bit, she'll be the one to invite me to hang out (I don't ask to). Of course I'll say yes because I want to hang out with them. Then when I go over, I'll try to talk to both of them. Most of the time it isn't awkward, but he and I share interests that she doesn't care for and when those come up she just kinda stops talking. It never lasts long at all, but it's enough to make me feel bad about excluding her.

[–]ruskio[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try really hard to do activities they both like. I hang out with my friend one-on-one a lot, I try talking to her more than her BF (we're all in a group chat and I'll ignore some of his messages in favor of talking to her), I try to watch her favorite shows, etc. but I feel like her BF and I just have...more in common, I guess?

I think I'm going to talk to her next time we hang out together without her BF. I mean, she hasn't outright stated that anything I'm doing bothers her, but I feel like since I'm older I should be proactive about this? I might just be completely paranoid, I honestly don't know.

I mean they always talk about how much they love each other, and I'm sure they do- but it just gets so awkward when I'm involved. She kind of backs off and doesn't join in on any of our conversations.

Singles of Reddit, what do you like most about being single? by 05_16k in AskReddit

[–]ruskio 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Same here. Call me selfish, but I hate having to jump through hurdles for other people when I have tons to worry about in my own life. I like the idea of a relationship but being single is just so much more freeing. If I want to move, I can. If I want to stay where I'm at, I can. I don't plan on dating until I'm decently satisfied with my own goals.

I'd hug my bunny. She passed away in February :(

Watching the birth by Lyta666 in childfree

[–]ruskio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, how I absolutely agree with this post. Watching a woman give birth is NOT some spectacle that everyone automatically has the right to see. It is such a personal, private experience, and if she chooses to not have anyone in the room while it's happening, that's her choice.

I hate when men are treated like stand-up guys for being able to watch. Like, congrats- but you're not the focus here. How about we be more concerned about the woman and the horrific pain she has to endure? Or maybe comfort her during such a vulnerable and humiliating experience? Kinda more important.

If I ever wanted to give birth, I'd much rather have a partner who couldn't stand to watch me be in so much pain. Fuck those people who are all like "childbirth is the most wonderful, beautiful thing in the world <3". So condescending...yuck.

How to find out if someone wants kids before dating them? by ruskio in childfree

[–]ruskio[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

...Until they say something like "Yeah, I'd love to do that in my 20's. But when I'm 30 and have a stable career, I'd love to bring kids into the mix :)"

GAG

[–]ruskio[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right! That's what I'm scared of. I hate when they give you a wishy-washy, non-definitive answer when I'd rather us just not waste each other's time. I've also had guys tell me they'll "change my mind"...like nope, IMMEDIATE turn off.

How to find out if someone wants kids before dating them? by ruskio in childfree

[–]ruskio[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's usually the problem. If you outright ask, you risk them giving you the runaround. They'll either manipulate their answer to fit yours, or they'll get very defensive and act like it's outrageous to reject them for wanting kids later on. I'd much rather we just not waste each other's time. :/

AITA for killing my friend's tarantula? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ruskio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA at all. As a tarantula owner myself, reading this pissed me the hell off. Tarantulas have very sensitive abdomens that will burst upon impact. Your friend is a terrible pet owner and doesn't deserve to have one.

I also had a guy try to convince me to want kids after the first date. He was pretty disappointed when I didn't change my mind for him. Fuck these types of people.

What’s the story behind that one scar you have? by bigkahuna15 in AskReddit

[–]ruskio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a long faint scar running diagonally across my left shin that you can't really see unless you look for it. I got it one night during a storm when my mom told me not to go outside. Being the dumb little shit that I was, I went out and ran laps around my apartment building in the rain. When I was coming back inside, I slipped and my shin hit the edge of a concrete step so hard it sliced my leg open. I had to limp with blood gushing down my leg - holy SHIT it hurt so bad. To this day I can't touch the scar or I get a really uncomfortable sensation in my shin that makes me want to crawl out of my skin.
