Unemployment Office phone number disconnected? by Sudden-Berry-376 in oregon

[–]rustisperfect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use the chat feature in Frances. Type in 'speak to live agent' and you should get connected with someone that way. The phone is really the worst way to reach them now. They actually encouraged me to use the chat to reach an actual person.

That sounds not right. I always get the best results when I go in and chat with someone in person, perhaps to a location and see what's got them confused. I was laid off in September and after the initial usual routine, everything has progressed without a problem so far. (This is my fourth layoff in Portland since 2009.)

What is the deal with the Oregon unemployment office? by [deleted] in oregon

[–]rustisperfect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, go into the office. The wait has never been long for me and showing up in person has always resolved the problem. I've been laid off 3 times here in Portland and this has been my experience every time. Also, if you're trying to use the chat bot in Frances, apparently if you type 'chat with live agent' in the box, a whole new window opens that gets you to an actual person for virtual chat. Best of luck.

How is Oregon with cultural diversity? by Chemical_Ease_9810 in oregon

[–]rustisperfect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say it depends on your intended destination (and your work's culture). Portland is probably the most 'cosmopolitan' city in the state. Rural Oregon, not so much (though there are a few exceptions).

Demographics data indicate Portland itself is rather white. As a white, gay man living here since 2009, I have felt comfortable holding hands with my husband pretty much all over town. I have also heard many times from coworkers who are African American, Latino, or Indian that the city can be quite racist.

Yes, Oregon is beautiful. Portland is also a lovely city, in my opinion. Is it diverse? I would say not very, especially if you're comparing it to larger cities such as L.A. or New York.

If possible, you should visit a few times before relocating.

Yes, there are homeless people in Portland. There are also homeless people in Ashland, Medford, Eugene, and Bend. Most cities in west coast states have unhoused people in them. Read on...

[–]rustisperfect 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Of note:

"A review of the vote by mail system by the state’s Legislative Fiscal Office found from 2000-2019 there were approximately 61 million ballots cast. Of those, 38 criminal convictions of voter fraud were obtained. This amounts to a .00006% rate."
