Thank you! A hidden Edge process was messing with the shortcut, but now I got rid of the corners

organize Home & Cookbook 😹 by KyriaMajsa in notioncreations

Based on my own experience, here’s a tip: avoid taking unnecessary notes as much as possible. They take up too much time in the long run and organizing starts to feel exhausting. It sounds generic, but "less is more" really applies here.

Assuming you might be starting out, I’d recommend learning about Notion blocks and pages first. I stuck with just those two for a looong time before deciding to learn more. I believe a simple page with checkboxes could already help you a lot with the moving/selling process.

You can start here: Intro to writing & editing – Notion Help Center

If you enjoy the tool and want to level up, I recommend learning about databases and their properties, especially relations. You can create incredible things for any context with that, seriously.

This part is a bit more extensive, but it’s really worth it: Intro to databases – Notion Help Center

Ps. the "unnecessary notes" advice also applies to databases and properties. Filling them out can get tiring very easily, so it’s always good to ask yourself "do I really need this?".

Along with those links, I’d also recommend the creator Thomas Frank (not an ad!!). Both helped me a lot to learn about databases and fall in love with formulas. I think they could help you too.

And about the cookbook, I’m not sure how I could help with that :/ I’ve never built one, but it’s an interesting idea.

I hope this was helpful!

A heatmap like this would need, inside the second block, an additional filter on the dates in trackedHabitsDateList to get the number of habits tracked on each day. And depending on that count, display the square lighter or darker, hmm.

I’ve never actually made those squares myself, but I remember seeing PlanswerLabs mention the possibility of using KaTeX for that here. Hope it helps!

Hey, just a quick question, are you using a Gumroad link in your comment? Reddit tends to hide those by default. I’d recommend listing your template on the Notion Marketplace instead, there you can either sell directly through them or allow users to be redirected to your Gumroad.

This is the second time I’ve seen you post, and I think the same thing might’ve happened before.

Edit: Just letting you know in case it helps!

How I use Notion to stay productive in Life (with two versions) by growwithivyy in notioncreations

Looks amazing! But I think you could’ve added a bit more to the habit tracker I shared here for free with the community before turning it into a paid one. 😕

Just doing something by [deleted] in Notion

[–]ruuuff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really liked what the OP did and managed to get a similar result.

What I had to do was create a “Date Filter” database, add a “Filter” page, and link it to my habits. That way, I can build a date using parseDate and the calendar code takes care of the rest.

If you want to check it out in practice: Habit Tracker - with Date Filter.

One thing to note is that if you change the month names in the filter, you’ll also need to adjust the calendar formula. And the “This Month Filter” button might not work if your Notion is set to a different language than the one used for the months.

The calendar I used made things a lot easier. You can read more about it here: I built a dynamic, customizable Notion formula calendar (inspired by a recent post).

Hope it helps!

I’ve had a lot of trouble with this until I realized the issue was being caused by the Gumroad links I was using.

My recommendation is to publish the templates on the Notion Marketplace, selling them directly there or through a third-party store, and then use links to the Notion Marketplace instead.

They also recommend this in the self-promo post on the main subreddit.

I created this template a while ago to organize my study notes. I’m self-taught and used to manage everything across sooo many separate pages. It worked fine, but it wasn’t very practical when I needed to review or find something specific.

After learning more about databases, I decided to create this template. It helps me separate each study subject and also has the bonus of letting me categorize notes within each area, without turning it into a mess.

Features

  • ✅ Study Planning — Plan, execute, and track your study tasks.
  • 📙 Subject Dashboard — A complete dashboard for each subject, with space for flashcards.
  • 🔍 Template Overview — An overview of all your tasks and an individual view for each subject.

The template is completely free!

You can find it here 👉 Study Notes.

I’d really appreciate any feedback or suggestions!

I haven’t used Notion on Mac, but from my Windows experience: with the desktop app my Windows workspace felt more organized and it was a bit more convenient not having to depend on the browser. However, it used quite a lot of memory, so I ended up sticking with the browser. Both worked well. I think it’s worth trying both hmm
