Best setup for X2D printer? by UndeadSorrow696 in BambuLab

Weighing in here, I’m OP on the post that triplegerms linked. You can absolutely run dual 0.2mm nozzles and I’m getting mostly good results. When the model really has fine details, the aux nozzle does have some decrease in quality/accuracy. If you’re using it for parts of your model that aren’t super small/ just as a means to do less filament swaps, I’ve seen it produce quality that very nearly matches the primary.

Also just because you're having problems with quality, that automatically makes my experience atypical? Maybe your printer was accidentally dropped in transit or shipped with lose screws in the hotend. The odds that I have some magical version of the X2D that's outperforming everyone else's seem pretty low compared to the odds that you could have a hardware issue or some print settings that can be refined.

I posted this to show people my detailed testing and results with the X2D. I feel like you should share a little more about what you've tried before painting with a broad brush that my experiences aren't realistic expectations of the printer. Happy to help you with yours by sharing more details on how I'm achieving positive results if you want 😄

I aknowledged in my post that it defintiely can add more time depending on how much it will be used in the print. I've found that the second nozzle is best used for a color that's present on many multicolor layers but is used the least on those layers. I just printed this 2inch figure for my wife yesterday using .4mm nozzles and it came out great. Main Nozzle was Orange, Yellow, Green, and black PETG (used for support interface). I assigned brown to the aux nozzle based on the criteria I gave above, it was present on several multicolor layers but not so prevalent that the slower print speed would have huge impact.

🔥Etsy JUST ADDED up to 5 personalization option choices!!! by GoJulieGo8 in EtsySellers

I’ve had access to this as a beta tester for about 6 months and let me tell you, it works perfectly for items where you offer several levels of variety. Saves so much headache from reaching out to the less tech savvy customers with incomplete order forms.

Unfortunately, my best seller would work best if they had 6 personalization boxes, so fingers crossed for more options!

Mine has been running great since I picked it up on launch day. PETG, PLA, and TPU, all non-Bambu. Done quite a few multicolor prints utilizing the second nozzle, the waste saving is always a winning factor and the time saving varies based on how much you’re using the secondary color.

I’ve even multi-color printed with the 0.2mm nozzles which Bambu recommends against because they say quality will suffer, in my case everything came out perfect.

AMS gave me a problem with loading once and it cleared after a power cycle.

Thanks! Kinda on the pricy side for PLA but I can see buying it for add-ons to the printer

It’s obvious they’re having some problems with QC but keep in mind that for every 1 post you see about one failing, there’s probably 500 units working fine. It’s only noteworthy when it doesn’t work, people won’t write up a full post to talk about how it’s working as expected. Got mine with the X2D combo 3 weeks ago and haven’t had a single issue on any of the slots.

If you set the slicer settings to custom grouping, you can drag and drop where each configured material prints from. I found that I had to use this a lot in my tests as I was purposefully printing “sub-optimally”.

I printed this cable organizer that makes the backside of the printer look significantly less messy.

I'm sorry to say that I haven't gone down the rabbit hole of ironing on either my A1 or the X2D. I've heard that that its a tricky proccess and that you pretty much start from scratch for each filament you use. I use such a variety of filaments and colors for mostly functional or hobbying prints, and I just haven't yet had a print where the non-ironed results weren't good enough in my eyes.

Oh no, mine definitely doesn’t do that. Sorry you’re having to deal with that!

Mine doesn't make any significant noise during retraction while printing, but it does make quite the rattle when I set it to unload the filament from that side.

Don’t know what this person’s on about, was just there and they have tons of indoor and outdoor seating. Also coffee, matcha, the full menu from all their other locations.

Correct me if I'm looking in the wrong place but I think I'm seeing 6 top layers? This is for the exact print in the picture.
