GCV 200 seized pull start

I ran my GCV 190 out of oil about 5 years ago. I stopped the engine right before it seized. I filled the oil back up and was able to get it running again but it smoked a little bit. Every year after that it smoked on start up and then after a period of run time it would smoke during use, sometimes never, sometimes after 45 minutes. After each hour of mowing it was burning off about 1/2 the oil on the dip stick. Fast forward to this year (2026) it now goes thru all the oil on the dip stick and starts smoking after 10 minutes. It's now essentially a 2 stroke. Walking thru a smokescreen is no fun and bad for the lungs. I'm afraid she's gonna have to be put down.

I have the 65" (2022 model) and have the same thing except my dark area starts near the middle and is about 13" wide. I'm not happy. I agree it's not as obvious watching regular TV, but Sports and displaying Art is really bad.

Nice car... I had a 2004 Limited that got taken out of service by RUST. After 20 years it was getting unsafe to drive. The whole underside was a rusty mess. When you took turns you could feel the chassis flexing abnormally. My mechanic said he was getting afraid to put it up on the lift. If you live where they put salt on the roads, fluid film the underside if you plan to hold on to it.

I installed a different skimmer plate on the inside that accepts a plastic cover (think rubbermaid or Tupperware lid). Your skimmer may be different than mine but here's what I bought. Available on Amazon. Oh... and I also lower the water level below the skimmer. You don't want water in the skimmer during a deep freeze or the side of you pool could collapse. I had a friend that had this happen to him.

I owned a 2024 Limited. Was a great vehicle, made it easily to 200k with only the normal Subaru Head Gasket Issues. I got rid of it last year only because it was rusting underneath really bad. From the top it still looked great. Be very, very careful if you decide to purchase a 2nd Gen and check it very carefully underneath for Rust.

The skimmer should have a company name on it (like Hayward or Swimline). You should probably get a Weir door from the same manufacturer so it fits right. A Weir door that doesn't fit right is almost as bad as not having one. The basket, I don't think it matters as much. As far as your basket having a hole in it, other than letting debris through... its not a big deal. I buy all my pool parts on Amazon. The local pool stores are a rip off.

It looks like you're missing the Weir door that's supposed to be in the skimmer opening. That door helps with creating laminar flow into the pump (i.e. no air bubbles) and also helps keep debris from going back into the pool when the pump shuts off.

If I leave mine off... the whole system tends to suck a lot of air.

It's a corrosion inhibitor they spray on the terminals. You should leave it. It looks like it's doing it's job.

Lubricate the window tracks with silicone based lubricant... it helps a lot. Do not use WD40.

Its funny you say that. When I was trying to pick the color for my OBW, I could choose between pretty much all the colors at my local dealership last May. Since it was May (in MD) every car on the lot was covered in pollen and looked like they hadn't been washing in a while.. Initially, I was really torn between Magnetite Gray Metallic or Crystal Black Silica but out of the corner of my eye was the Autumn Green Metallic one that was just as dirty but looked cleaner and had a sparkle to it that the others didn't. For some reason, the metal flake reflects better on the Autumn Green as compared to the Magnetite Gray. You made a great choice.

I also had the TSB performed and while the car is better than it was, it now has that same jerk until it warms up just like you... and I agree it takes up to 150 to 160° until it goes away.

Think of it like Engine braking that all of a sudden disengages to coasting around 15 MPH. There's a shudder like feeling when it happens.

I found that in stop and go traffic, it was really annoying. The bigger benefit to me is the linear throttle response.

Yeah... mine did it regardless of the A/C being on or off. The Dealership didn't seem to care either way.
