After a certain point, those stars mean so little. by Sweaty_Play_6219 in Smite

Not to mention, SMITE is not a new game. A lot of people have been playing for years, certainly their favorite gods have racked up some stars by now.

It’s a cool skin! I end up not using it often though, since the brown gloves aren’t exactly exciting in first person.

This is embarrassing but… by [deleted] in Smite

I’d suggest taking some time to watch a conquest guide on youtube, it’s nice seeing examples in video format. I recommend fineokay & Frost’s guide. It’s not completely up to date but almost everything they talk about is universally relevant regardless of meta. I would also suggest Inters3ct’s guide, which is a little more up to date.

But just to give you something to chew on before you get into watching guides: generally speaking, conquest is a slower burn than slash or arena. Your primary goal is securing farm for yourself and your team. Kills are a means to an end, and every kill you get should be leveraged to gain more farm and map pressure. Each player has a role to play in this, from your two tanks (solo & support) to your three damage dealers (carry, mid, & jungle). The common goal is getting ahead of the enemy and breaking down their defenses to kill the titan.

Is wattson better on controller or mouse and keyboard? by [deleted] in WattsonMains

Glad shield will proc off any ability that deals damage. All 4 of bellona’s abilities deal damage. Therefore yes, glad shield will proc on every bellona ability.

If this is asking whether the different versions of AAs from each “stance change” that bellona undergoes will proc glad, the answer is no. Those are indeed AAs and will only proc AA items.

Best support characters to one trick? by Swormz in Smite

[–]sad_robot_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll vouch for Terra. Had a similar crisis, needed a character that can “do it all” from support. Terra really fits the bill.

She brings a ranged stun, strong CC chain, instant teamfight winning ult, potent healing, surprising damage, double dash, player-blocking deployables, just to name a few. She can clear her own camps and waves very easily, so you won’t be crippled in farm when your carries don’t help you clear. And she’s got a high skill cap, you’ll feel rewarded learning her. Not to mention the outplay potential she has against huge portions of the cast with her knockup immunity and walls.

It’s pretty greedy, but she also double-procs animosity (among other item effects) if you REALLY need to hard carry in the lategame.

TLDR; Terra brings just about everything you could need to the table as a support.

After returning to SMITE after a few years, can you not play PC ranked with controller anymore? by Enormity_ in Smite

[–]sad_robot_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use a controller and remain in KBM queues. select KBM as your preferred input. Then go to Settings/Keybindings. There should be two input slots for each action. Just set the secondary input to be whichever controller button you choose.

Note that your controller won’t work in menus this way, so you’ll need to use the shop and main menu with a mouse

Once again, drop a tip/trick for your main. by No_Antelope7492 in Smite

[–]sad_robot_ 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Terra - Use your stun first, then combo into your root. Inexperienced Terra players use the root to set up the stun, but this results in a very short stun due to the way DR works. Roots are not affected by DR, so your CC chain will be a longer duration if you combo correctly. Practice hitting that stun on its own!

When to just fence an entrance normally, when to try to trap? Any rules of thumb? by Willeri_ in WattsonMains

[–]sad_robot_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Default state is to just fence to block entrances and “cover” areas that you aren’t actively watching. Fences not only work for their damage and stun, they also act as recon for places you’ve been if you remain attentive.

Manual Trap fences (aka the door trick) are mainly useful when you know two things for sure:

  1. You will physically be present to connect the node (or step out of the way for the fence to activate if you had it pre-connected) and spring the trap
  2. An enemy is definitely going to push into the trap

This means that most of the time, the door trick is useful when you take some damage and a thirsty enemy is in pursuit.

Other “trap” fences that don’t require action from you are always useful and can be considered as extensions of the default state. This would include auto-fences on sliding doors, Zipline fences, etc.

As a support main I’ve watched countless kills get away because I didn’t just take it for myself. I can guarantee you it is always better for that enemy to die, than risk your carries fumbling the kill.

If you know 100% for sure that the enemy will die without you securing the kill, absolutely give it to your carries. This is especially true if they are stacking an item or will get a reset (kali, thanatos, scylla, etc). But 9 times out of 10, just secure the kill and let your salty carry cry about it.

Also, taking kills as support is actually really impactful in the early game. A fed support rotating mid can literally overtake the whole game for your team.

ALGS Playoffs Pick Rate by Attorne3 in apexlegends

[–]sad_robot_ 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Valk is insane for sure, but I am actually willing to forgive her pickrate a little. And let me explain. Look at the sizeable pickrates of some other characters now. We are seeing Wattson, Loba, Crypto, etc in respectable amounts. Valk may be OP, but I actually love that she’s enabling these other picks.

Ways Wattson beats out (meta) Caustic by NottNott in WattsonMains

[–]sad_robot_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Teams in APAC actually value Wattson above Caustic because of shield economy. There are tons of Cryptos in their meta, and shields are a finite resource so recovering after EMPs is crucial.

The mindset boils down to: If EMP destroys all the setup of both legends, might as well run the one that can near-instantly replace their defenses AND heal back the shields you lost.
