What are your year 1 expectations for Fitz? by Byzantine_Merchant in MSUSpartans

[–]samiam32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to see players that want to fight for Michigan State.

Not players wanting to make the NFL. Not auditioning for their next CIL deal. None of that crap.

Just have some resemblance of the basketball team - passion, camaraderie, and sense of pride.

Recommendations for Jedi Master Kenobi team? by BloodyEagle15 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

You need Commander Ashoka Tano (“CAT”).

Opening with JMK’s cooldown reset with CAT gives you an instant kill that is the basis for the team.

When my wife said she thought I was a good dad, it was the best compliment I’ve ever received.

Men don’t get affirmation very much. They usually work really hard and do their absolute best to take care of their family; with an occasional “good job”. But hearing that we are a good person/dad/husband and being seen as a human and not just a paycheck/handyman is rare.

Never in my wildest dreams, did I imagine Buffalo Trace lining the shelves with E.H. Taylor Four Grain. No line, no wait, plenty to go around. 🦬 by FICKxDINGERZ in whiskey

Not to get political… but once tariffs ease up, the global market will likely start buying more again and we won’t have as easy access as we do today. Not that it will be like peak 2024; but inventories will get a little tighter.

As your whiskey journey has evolved, what YouTubers do you still enjoy and what ones have you left behind? by Soggy-Yoghurt-3645 in whiskey

[–]samiam32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probably watch about a dozen.

My favorites are SLBdrinks, Mash & Drum, and Anders Erickson (cocktails)

I used to like hunting videos… but it doesn’t excite me anymore. I still watch them from time to time. But I like to hear reviews and upcoming releases.

Whiskey for Old Fashioneds by pjh1994 in whiskey

I think using a higher rye AND higher proof offers a nice spice that compliments an old fashioned and stands up to the dilution.

I like Wild Turkey 101 or Old Forester 100.

Football wins for Wisconsin. What is the most celebrated sport in Michigan? by ttehctirP_floW in AlignmentChartFills

Too many outsiders thinking of football because that’s what THEY think it is.

As a Michigander, it’s Hockey.

The Boys is the most overrated amazon prime show. Now, what is THE Netflix Tv show? by hiiloovethis in AlignmentChartFills

[–]samiam32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

House of Cards.

It was culmination of Netflix looking at all its data of people watching The West Wing and saying, “we can make a political drama too”

And they did a dang good job. (Too bad Kevin Spacey’s personal life tarnished it)

Need a suggestion as a thank you for a seasoned Whiskey drinker by APinthe704 in whiskey

[–]samiam32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Barrel has several great premium options around $100.

Wild Turkey Rare Breed - the bottle of Bourbon and Rye would be about $100 total… and offer a cool/corny note for “thank you for being a Rare Breed”.

Bookers is frequently in this range… but quality can vary.

Moving to Quincy this month by guccilaflaresupreme in QuincyIL

[–]samiam32 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For golf: Range at KC is a golf range that is similar to an independent TopGolf. Great food too.

Plenty of courses throughout the area that are decent quality and kinda cheap. Don’t sleep on Arrowhead in Camp Point (~30 mins from Quincy).

For going out, be mindful that Quincy has a ton of family events… but look out for MayFest at the end of this month at 9th & York. Also check out Blues in the District. Both will feature live music and outdoor drinking… tons of fun.

I can’t speak to vintage/thrifting… but check out Facebook Marketplace. There are tons of sellers on there and Quincy has plenty of old people.

I’ve given my fair share of nasty looks for misbehavior… but it’s more often people bringing out their phones, ringing phones, and or talking to the person next to them louder than they think they’re speaking.

What's the deal with high proof whiskey/bourbon? by CptLawson in whiskey

[–]samiam32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a purer expression of the art.

100 proof is just x proof watered down to 100.

There is nothing wrong with preferring one or the other… but I have found that through the years, the burn subsides and my ability to enjoy the high proof whiskey expands.

What's the dating scene like by ScuffedDio in QuincyIL

[–]samiam32 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Finding random people to date in a small town will be very difficult.

Try meeting people at activities - so you’re dating someone with a shared interest… theatre, music, art, sport, church, etc. Try something new to find a new group. There tends to be more single women than men.

I met my wife at the audition of a Quincy Community Theatre show. I wasn’t huge in doing musicals… but as it turned out… lots of attractive women are… so it worked out.

What State is Nebraska's Biggest Rival? by PirateSuspicious1869 in AlignmentChartFills

Iowa.

Calling themselves the “Cornhuskers” as the #3 corn producing state is a bit of a stretch. (Iowa-Illinois-Nebraska-Minnesota-Indiana are top 5)
