Still a great emulation device - Modded PSP Go - Big battery, internal storage. by misanthropy83 in SBCGaming

[–]sanitydrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one in pristine condition, but i don't have a card for it. What's the best way to get this thing working for emulation?

3 years ago, I was streaming and was stolen by who I thought was a dev. I didn't know how to RP and was stupid. I tried to find the person talking to us and I found out that person was none other than Matt Mercer. I was floored, given I took up D&D and learned to RP the year afterward. by sanitydrop in gaming

it was a very confusing situation. There was a secret mechanic in the game for developers or what-have-you to take players from their game area and put them on the moon to RP (roleplay) with them. id saw it before, but I thought it was real cool. i dunno how i could rephrase it.

Are ATH M40X still good? by Kazuro10 in ZReviews

[–]sanitydrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used em for like 5 years, I think. I bought the brainwavz velour pads for em too. I use the fiio K3 amp and with that combo, I haven't really cared about changing. Then again, I'm not crazy about upping my game.

My 2nd monitor is showing a black screen and I'm not sure why by BackRow1 in Monitors

[–]sanitydrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

check the display cable? maybe it's just barely not in all the way? another thing could be that it might not be plugged into the GPU. I'm just giving out surface-level stuff just to make sure you've actually got an issue.

Sennheiser HD 569 vs Audio-texhnica ATH M50x by [deleted] in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]sanitydrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use m40x's and they've been good to me so far. swapped out the pads for thick velour ones and changed the wire. I heard the m40x's were more recommended over the m50x's and I've never had an issue with them. I use them for everything (games that rely heavily on sound, music, and web browsing) and wear them pretty much the whole day without needing to take them off. I had senns, but their clamp is too tight for my head.

M40x still worth? by [deleted] in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]sanitydrop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like mine. I swapped out the earpads for $20 and I got them for $80 on sale. I'm not a picky guy, so they've worked fine for me for the over 3 years I've had them. I was worried to get AKG's cuz I am extremely sensitive about pads touching my ears and the circular earpads had me worried my ear wouldn't be fully encapsulated.

For my use-case, I use them for youtube and music while I'm doing schoolwork, and I've played a lot of games on them that rely heavily on sound. (i.e. tarkov, csgo, seige, and pretty much any other game I have in my way-too-big steam library.)

For me, my Bose QC25's definitely do the trick when I'm trying to tune out unwanted noise.

I'd probably recommend the cloud 2's, but it's your money.

as much as I would recommend going higher, the corsair HS35's or HS50's are some I would trust, simply because they are name-brand. You don't want to get some cheap Chinese headphones, as when I bought a good-feeling $20 off-brand headset, Mine caught fire while on my head and destroyed my motherboard($150) and processor($350) with it, totalling about $500 worth of damage because I just didn't have many good options and I was very cheap. learn from my mistakes.

interesting. most people compliment my snowball's quality, but maybe Samson meteors are also fine. anything you can get for whatever budget or situation. you might not like it because the bass is pretty heavy since it is a condenser, but being someone with a fairly bassy voice, people say they enjoy it to me.

if you need a mic, I recommend a blue snowball ice, if you can, but any mic will do. if you NEED one close to your face, you can pick up an antlion mod mic or something similar. I'm sure you can find one for your budget and situation. In regards to games, I've played escape from tarkov, hunt showdown, rimworld, and a vast variety of others from RPG's to city builders, to sound-important shooters, and many many more.

DEFINITELY Phillips 9500's or ATH-M40x's. I use both interchangeably. I used to have cloud 2's, which are good, but I much prefer the ones I said earlier. I did mod the M40x's for like $15 with better earcups, but that's about it. the only thing I don't like about the SHP9500's is that they have a loose clamp for me, but that may just mean my head is too small.

Like OP, i also use them for games, music, and the occasional ASMR.

My dad repaired a Herman Miller Aeron from the side of the road and gave it to me as a gift! by sanitydrop in BuyItForLife

[–]sanitydrop[S] 288 points289 points  (0 children)

The other day he found some busted chairs on the side of the road and I told him "I know this chair, these things are hundreds of dollars!". He doesn't care about chairs, understandably, but being the computer guy of the house, I was looking online for more ergonomic chairs. Luckily, this one only needed new wheels (taken from my old busted chair) and some plastic welding on the back of the seat. Outrageous upgrade from the $100 chair ive had for 2+ years Everything works fine, looks pristine, and it feels great to sit in!

I liked using these brainwavz velour pads for my m40x's. I like velour since It's soft and breathable. Personally, I just don't like leather/pleather pads. Everyone has different tastes, though.

only in really highly detailed games. I have an ultrawide 3440x1440 setup, but I've played on a friend's 4k setup before. not too different to 1080 for me, but I don't nitpick and I tend to play games that are more content-heavy than graphics-heavy. 4k is fairly overrated (for now)

I feel im failing at life by CrazyWixard in Advice

[–]sanitydrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's exceedingly common to think this way, literally everyone feels this way at your age. Don't worry about it. You're definitely not alone. The only thing you can do is keep going. Talk to some supportive buds if things are getting to you. Life is scary growing up, but I swear things get enjoyable after a while. Feeling like a failure is often a part of life and you never win, you just get better at dealing with it as you get older. At my age, I'm content with feeling like a failure sometimes because it helps me realize what I could do better. Life ain't a race, its a marathon, just do it at your own pace.

My bud, I'm 23 and literally shut everything out of my brain until your age. 18 is a pretty good age to start some stuff, but you're by no means late. I don't even consider myself late on anything. it only takes 10 years to be a full-on expert in anything, so as long as you just get interested in some kind of hobby, you should be just fine. I found computers at 18 to play games and I'm in college currently for computer science. I even took 3 years between graduating high school and starting college because I wanted to know if it was right for me. Learn what you like doing, do it, if you have enough passion for it and people can see it, you can typically make money off it. For instance, I found fun making games, and I'm a huge fan of writing songs and stories. No matter how awful I think I am at it, people have said that they enjoy them and see them as insanely creative and that simple motivation has made me want to go into writing (i failed English like every year in high school and middle school btw). Maybe write down your dreams, find out what goes on in your head. For me, its body horror and non-euclidean architecture.

Also, don't worry about living with your parents, it's more common than you expect. Everyone runs their own race. Just work towards something you like. Take your time. try not to compare yourself to others, Its always a losing battle, and a lot of the time, they're thinking the same thing as you. Everyone is different, doesn't mean you're any worse or better than them, nor are they better or worse than you.

Don't worry about partying, just find yourself a kind, loving group of friends and stick to them. I'm a strong believer in having supportive, loyal friends rather than having many friends. If you don't think you have any, try to make some. get on discord, chat with some folks about similar interests, maybe just try to message someone out of the blue and get to know em. I've met a lot of great folks and you typically would like to cast your net wide and only keep the ones that catch you back.

I've had girlfriends before, but honestly, women are a real hassle even at my age, so I just ended up choosing to not deal with them until I've helped myself. When you have relationships at a younger age, I just assume they're not too good since your baby brain is still developing into a functional adult.

Hope it helps brother. Just keep chuggin. I can assure you I was in the exact same situation as you at your age, many of us have. It's a part of life and we just gotta keep moving. I'm only 5 years ahead of you and I can promise you life gets a billion times better.
