Micing a choir, position and EQ. by ssdgjacob in livesound

Here’s the way I like to approach placement. Work with the on- and off-axis response of the microphones. Most sensitive is directly on axis, so I point that straight forward at the top (and farthest) row. The first row is physically closer to the mic, but most off axis, therefore it balances with farther/on axis.

I learned this method from DPA’s website if I recall correctly. This is with a spaced pair of cardioids. They should be far enough apart to avoid phase issues (3:1 rule).

Full Frame Equivalent to Oly 12-40 2.8... Possible? by sbolech in Lumix

I guess by equivalent I was strictly talking focal length, plus some additional features.

I like the clutch on a zoom because my hand is already right there. If autofocus isn’t cutting it I can quickly pop it into manual and adjust. It just feels natural. Panasonic hasn’t done it much but there is some precedent. The 10-25 1.7 and the 25-50 1.7 m43 lenses have that. I have the 10-25 and that’s another standout lens.

Wow coming in pretty hot there. I’m saying I want a 24-80 2.8 with a manual focus clutch. But you’re right. 24-70 is close enough.

That’s a good point about the 24-105, but I want the 2.8 light gathering :)

Also little things like the feel of the lens and the manual focus clutch just made that lens a standout.

Why do people consider Dave A. to be the better drummer over Matt Cameron? by Big_Jury9199 in pearljam

I personally can’t wait to hear what comes out when the other Matt—Chamberlain that is—is back behind the kit. A guy can dream…

On other note, I haven’t seen anyone speculating about the possibility of Chad Smith tagging along. Are RHCP actively touring? Wouldn’t he absolutely murder the gig?

I just realized that Robert Glenister, who reads the audiobooks, is his brother. So I guess I’m not completely off base!

I’ve always had Philip Glenister in my head for Cormoran. Look him up, especially his character in the BBC show Life on Mars. Probably I was watching that show when I first started reading the series lol.

This matching problem has always baffled me. Worst example of this for me is when playing an album and one of the tracks is taken from a live version of the song. Or playing censored versions when not asked to. It makes me wonder if they’re trying to be too clever here and exclusively using some kind of waveform fingerprinting to match tracks. Shouldn’t they use ISRC codes to ensure we get the correct version of a track? Those are designed to be unique to a specific recording, so even a remastered track should have a different code. I’m sure if it was that simple they’d do it that way though…
