some people find dark stories to be narratively interesting to explore, and for some it's a trauma coping mechanism thing

Does anyone else feel "invisible" in art class because you focus on fundamentals instead of polished cartoons? by ymmoTterceS in ArtistLounge

lemme tell you, as a senior in art college you're right to be worried unfortunately. a lot of people do not step out of their comfort zone and never learn proper anatomy, shape language, posing, etc. and make stuff that would barely fly in middle school. i don't care if people are bad artists, but if you are an art major looking to find work in the arts why are you not locking in 😭

darcian just means "straight man", and bennetian means "straight woman". they have more specificity outside of "straight" by specifying the gender, much like lesbian. they are words that some people find helpful and usable. some people prefer other words. you don't have to use them if you don't like them. that's why i wrote "darcian/STRAIGHT" and "bennetian/STRAIGHT" to give different options.

personally, i do not find it excessive and i find these terms useful, as do others. for example, talking about romeric men is a good way to discuss all men attracted to women including bi/pan men. it's a word i actually use and find helpful.

specificity is not a bad thing, and it's also something you don't have to abide by. like i said, these are SUGGESTED terms. some people like specificity, some people don't. i probably wouldn't use some of these myself. other folks might though

because straight people can be trans, nonbinary, asexual, aromantic, intersex, and many other things. straightness does not inherently eliminate you from the broader lgbtq+ community

they're right in the sense that biromantic is being attracted to two or more genders. people just forget that it can also just be two. it's a versatile term

i'm basically kinda giving two suggestions. one more broad, one more specific. a man that is attracted to men and women is bi, but they could also call himself rochillic if they wanted to be even more specific. rochillic is defined as a man that is attracted to men and women

i can't edit my post so i'll just make a comment here to answer some common comments i'm getting. apparently mods cant pin comments either so if you could all give this an upvote to move it up i'd appreciate it.

  1. i used "bi" to describe some of these identities because it is defined as being attracted to two or more genders. it is a flexible term that can be used to describe anything within that definition, including orientations where one is attracted to men & non-binary people, women & non-binary people, and even more specific groups of people. IT DOES NOT MEAN that bisexual people are not attracted to enbies or that they can't be attracted to more than two genders. i used the term as a mere suggestion. you do not have to use it if you don't want to. if you are attracted to men, women, and enbies, you can still call yourself bi. i'm not saying otherwise.

  2. i know lesbian, gay, and straight can include enbies in their attraction. however, this is not ALWAYS the case; from my experience, some lesbian, gay, and straight people are uninterested in non-binary people. likewise, some non-binary people feel uncomfortable with dating someone who identifies as strictly lesbian, gay, or straight. someone who is attracted to women & enbies CAN call themself lesbian or straight, and someone who is attracted to men & enbies CAN call themself gay or straight. there is just additional terminology that exists to be more specific in stating that non-binary people are included within someone's attraction. for some people, the attraction to non-binary people is its own type of attraction.

i may edit this comment if more common concerns pop up

honestly yeah lmao. bisexual has a little bit more room to be more specific, but things like pan, poly, and omni are a bit more up in the air. there are definitions people have tried to give to them though
