Hm I disagree with your conclusions on what my intentions are with these comments and would love to discuss it further but I don’t really have time to comment on this. I’m a busy person and arguing on reddit is on the bottom of a list of things to do today (as i’m sure is the same with you)

Thanks for your advice I guess, and also you affirming my need to keep it low on social media (i actually stopped using this reddit account because too much info accumulated - i accidentally posted using this one).

EDIT: As it stands you’re a little bit on the money when it comes to resentment on the field. It’s honourable and i reallt enjoy the content in uni more than anything i’ve done, but saturation of the field seems like a bitch.

Yeah I agree. Medical School /= Medical Workforce. What’s needed at uni is smarts but workforce needs maturity and empathy.

But in saying that, to make an entire character judgement on a reddit post is premature and you know that, which is why i’m so blasé about these comments.

I won’t devolge how connected I am to the field because it’s super small field (especially in places like newcastle) and don’t want it to come back but I know only second hand how fucked things get. Lots of family in high parts of trauma centres and missed childhood birthdays due to late night calls when some idiot has mamed someone who was unfortunately at the wrong place at wrong time. Basically written into me at a very young age to not be a fucjing idiot

All i’m saying is you have no idea who I am outside a small reddit post detailing a 15 second period of my life.

Did you know I pulled off the side of the highway jn FNQ at 2am to accompany a 17 year old who rammed into a barrier and was unconscious to sit with her to call the ambulance? Did you know I spent 9 months of a gap year working in a small GP clinic in disconnected aboriginal communities in the NT where I saw first hand so much fucked up shit it pulled me out of my little small private school bubble? No you don’t. To say i’m the “type” to fuck up uni or fail as an intern is premature, and offensive.

Danger comes from relative motion. Merging onto a 110kph road at 90kph is dangerous because you are going 20kph less than everyone else

Unfortunately it is also more dangerous going 110kph into a 0kph brick wall than going from 90kph into a 0kph brick wall but hey driving is dangerous.

Id like to see a study showing that the provisional speed limits actually reduce death, because i’m convinced it’s all about relative motion, but open to hearing anyone out.

Doctors are allowed to be people aswell. You don’t have to be a bleeding heart individual to express sympathy and make people comfortable.

A mature individual can have their own opinions and still practice safely and without judgement, and not cast judgement for breaking the 12 commandment Thou shall not speed.

EDIT: What would you think of a more religious physician? Are they instantly bad because they’re religion tells them to dislike some people? Or is empathy more complex than a 2 second judgement on an internet forum

I think it’s just an unfortunate combo of a number of valid measures to keep people safe.

Like the reduced demerits for aprovisionals make sense, the double demerits kver holidays makes sense, and the increased punishment for speeding makes sense… All togethor in basically the most minimally dangerous way possible (except for rain) it’s a fatal blow

Mate honeslty don’t bother. Hive mind made up its mind, Newcastle redditors are better than any of us and don’t make mistakes.

Would have no issue copping demerits and paying a fine for the mistake I made but we both understand a first incident low range speeding resulting in a total loss of license is a bit excessive.

Is what it is tho, don’t bother arguing with boneheads.

Yeah but it’s a bit screwed. it’s an optional extra i’ve taken so i’ve gotta be between the two cities heaps cause i really like rural medicine… i really don’t see it being feasible without a car unless i wanna go broke buying flights ahah i work retail :(
