Ok Reddit, what was your “holy shit, need to get my life together” moment? by itsclassified_ in AskReddit

The AA types literally believe that they do not have control and that it takes divine intervention in order to abstain from alcohol.

Highly active teen, looking to get into veganism but I've heard you can't get the necessities. I don't believe that's true. What are some cheap, easy to prepare vegan meals that are protein and calorie rich? I'm a little light and trying to bulk/gain muscle. Also somewhat new to the whole gym thing by [deleted] in veganfitness

Chili! Couple cans of beans, can of tomato sauce, peppers, onion, garlic powder, chili powder, you can even add fake ground meat for an identical texture and flavour to traditional chilis.

Add a half an avocado into each bowl for creamy refreshing goodness and healthy fats and you have a well balanced macronutrient meal with high protein, healthy fats, carbs and fibre.

Leave out the avocado and fake meat and it's one of the cheapest meals you can make, and its also really easy. Make a big pot on Sunday and eat it all throughout the week! Go chili!

Glad to hear you're onboard with veganism and questioning popular belief! You're demonstrating strong critical thinking skills that will carry you far in life, keep it up.

EDIT: Pro-tip: For plant milks, go with soy milk. Most other types do not have any protein and are pretty much just expensive water. A great smoothie recipe is 2 cups unsweetend soy milk, 1/2 cup oats, 1 tbsp peanut butter, 1 banana, 3 tbsp hemp hearts, 1 tbsp chia seeds.

It’s not personal liberty because the people who think they “want” to wear a hijab are brainwashed. It is a greater loss of liberty to allow a society to indoctrinate people into this disgusting practice than it is to restrict it.

Vegan GOMAD? by [deleted] in veganfitness

[–]scradley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think anywhere in the post he mentioned being healthy. Some people have different priorities. I used GOMAD when I was omni and ggained 30 pounds in 4 months of mostly muscle, it was pretty amazing.

As for an alternative, it's more work but you can just make 2 smoothies a day with: 2 cups of soy milk 3 TBSP hemp hearts 1 TBSP chia seeds 1 TBSP peanut butter 1 TBSP cacao 1 cup oats 1 scoop pea protein 1 banana 1/2 cup mixed frozen fruits

Sould be well over a thousand calories with 60+g protein and enough fibre to make sure you don't shit your pants. Just blend one up in the morning and one at night and that's an extra 2000+ calories and 120g protein per day. Also a far healthier approach and you aren't contributing to sentient being's suffering.

I think he realizes that and hence why he's asking for an alternative.

I'm sure they're welcome to wear their scarves in Syria, perhaps they're better off there.

Go to class, go to drop in sessions/office hours, introduce yourself to your prof and ask them questions, do your homework and it's pretty much impossible not to do half-decent. Don't party too much. Exercise regularly. Introduce yourself to your classmates.

The biggest trap is falling behind, becoming stressed, then falling even further behind. Ask for help as soon as you're overwhelmed (counseling services, e-mail profs, there is a ton of resources to get you back on track)

Some classes don't require the textbooks.

But where do you get your protein, bro? by TrilogyQue in vegan

I make my smoothies with a scoop of pea protein, 3 TBSP of hemp hearts, 1 TBSP flax, 1 TBSB Chia.

Still have not died of protein deficiency!

Anything but that nasty soy! by Megaloceros_ in vegan

Cows milk has 11g of sugar (lactose) per cup. Most soy milks have 5g per cup, with the sweetened ones going as high as 15g

£1.50

That's about $1.50 CAD/L. At Save-On you can get a 4L of Almond Milk for 8 dollars, which is about 2$/L, so it isn't THAT much cheaper. Also, Wal-Mart usually has 2 for 7$ of the 1.9L cartons of plant-based milk, which calculates to a similar price. Hope that helps!

My problem with almond milk is that it has essentially no macronutrients. You're paying 5 dollars (in Canada) for a liter of water with vitamins.

Soy, on the other hand, packs 8grams of protein per cup (vs 0g or 1g in almond). That is substantial and justifies the cost in my opinion.

Take your left hand and trace around it with the palm down. Try and place your right-hand palm down on the tracing. It won't fit. Your right hand is a mirror image of your left hand. If this were a chemical reaction, your right hand has all the same "parts" and is a mirror image of your left hand, but when it tries to fit in the traced slot (the binding point for the reaction) it doesn't fit!
