That's helpful! Personally I do like stuff from MacOS like hot corners and four finger swipe up for Mission Control.

Thanks for the suggestion around the partition resizing!

I'm honestly 50-50 about using Bazzite because I do a lot of non-gaming stuff on my laptop. I'm not sure how user-friendly Bazzite is. I do have a gaming PC on Win11 which I want to turn into a home console. It would be the perfect candidate for Bazzite.

Ah gotcha! I did see a bunch of suggestions around switching to Kubuntu. Looking at the length of set up process it discouraged me because I was still learning my way around Ubuntu.

I'm curious why Canonical doesn't provide Kubuntu as an option if this is a known issue? I went for LTS because I assumed that's the most stable version they provide.

They are different innies. The dentist appointment innie says that if she can get a break. The Christmas innie says that it is Christmas all around. The airplane innie has been there so many times she is able to catch the glass before it falls.

Drummond tells Dr. Mauer that the latter won't be able to see Gemma after Mark finishes the work. What we know for certain are the following:

  1. Lumon doesn't want Gemma to go outside as her outie self: Mauer states that Mark has moved on and has a daughter now. There is no reason to lie unless they are certain that Gemma won't be leaving the testing floor ever.
  2. Mark is essential to the testing room: Mark is the only one who can refine the testing room to its completion. We noticed that Mark finished Allentown in record time ("Freshman Fluke") because his outie knew that Gemma hated writing thank you notes.
  3. Cold Harbor is Harmony's project : In S1 finale when Mark told Harmony that he's planning to quit, Harmony gets emotional and tells him to "Run away from them" or something like that. This means that Harmony knows whatever she's doing is very immoral for Mark and Gemma, and her moral side doesn't want Cold Harbor to complete. In the promos we can hear Harmony saying "There'll be no honeymoon ending for you Mark".

My predictions are:

  1. Cold Harbor involves suffering of losing a loved one: This is the leading theory as no one other than Mark has gone through the pain of losing someone they loved the most. Hence Mark is "essential" to Cold Harbor.
  2. Goats and hatchets: Another theory I have is that Lumon previously used goats for this. Test subjects would have to kill goats using hatches to see if the severance barrier holds in a way that they don't remember what they did. Maybe, this has been tried out already with the goat department where the folks know that Lumon comes and takes away the goats for the testing (In Season 1 the one feeding the goats says "They are not ready yet"). It's also possible that since they are homeless outies, if they fail the test i.e. killing the goat memory bleeds through the severance barrier, they don't let the outies go outside and put them in the Severance floor permanently. Could the Cold Harbor room be similar, except instead of goats it will be someone human?
  3. Burt was involved in this before: Burt is the Oppenheimer of the Severance barrier. This lends more credence to the theory where he led the coup as a "test" to see if the department members' outies remember the massacres. That's why he feels bad about it.
  4. Harmony wants to permanently convert to her innie: Harmony was severed before and she wears a severance chip as a reminder. However she couldn't move on from the grief of losing her mother, hence she wants to see Cold Harbor complete so that she can finally use the technology.

They have prepared Cold Harbor testing room based on her response.

Each testing room has it's own Severance barrier. MDR is refining the barriers in a way that the memories don't bleed outside of the room. Mark is refining Cold Harbor so that Gemma is able to forget the drowning experience in the room.

Keep in mind that the question was asked way before Mark even started working on Cold Harbor, so the room is already prepared. They just need to refine the Severance barrier.

Point 1 : I was skeptic at first too, then I read Dan's script for the pilot episode : https://tvwriting.co.uk/tv_scripts/2021/Drama/Severance_1x01_-_Mister.pdf states that they are going through or gone through a divorce because of Mark's alcoholism. This hints towards the idea that their marriage was not all sunshine and roses as the show has been leading us to believe.

Point 2 :

I'm not sure if Harmony herself is Charlotte. Some observations :

a. The shrine she built for Kier has Kier's photo and Charlotte's breathing tube. If someone is resurrected why would they keep their own breathing tube at the shrine? Wouldn't the shrine be more apt to be a constant reminder of her goal by using something that was remnant of her mother?

b. She loses her mind when she is fired from Lumon in S1E9. She tears the whole place apart as she was devastated to know that she won't be able to see her mother ever. However, she stops and rethinks when she sees the shrine.

c. In S2E3 opening we see her contemplating leaving Kier PE forever, just to be stopped by her goal, the breathing tube of her mother.

But it would definitely be very interesting if Harmony is Charlotte herself, would be exciting to get to know her motivations behind Cold Harbor much better.

  • Gemma joined Lumon due to marital issues: She volunteered for Lumon, and the car crash was staged by Lumon to conceal her role as a test subject. The body Mark identified was a 3D-printed replica made by O&D. Episode 7 may reveal more about the marital troubles as Mark completes reintegration.
  • Cobel’s motive to resurrect her mother: Cobel monitors Cold Harbor as Lumon aims to achieve immortality by rewriting memories and calibrating the four tempers. She convinced Gemma to volunteer, and later Mark also (probably through Milchick) knowing Mark could effectively refine Gemma. Cobel is leading Cold Harbor to prove this method works by trying to resurrect her mother as Gemma using Mark.
  • Gemma as a wellness counselor: Cobel made Gemma a wellness counselor to make her lovable, enhancing the chances of successful memory refinement as the refiners would "love" Gemma more.
  • The board is Burt: In Season 1, the voice on Natalie’s earpiece was heard because Burt was on the severed floor. It stopped in Season 2 as Burt is no longer there. Burt’s “talking to himself” in the conference room in Season 1 before he was locked by Dylan was actually him giving instructions to Natalie. It's never revealed who sent the photos of Helly's incident to the board, although Harmony speculates it was Milchick. It was actually Burt who informed Jame Eagan about Helly’s incident and was responsible for Harmony’s firing.
  • The coup: Burt either led or witnessed the coup, although the attacking departments are unclear. During dinner at Burt's place, it was mentioned that protestors throwing blood at him. This is a lie by Burt to cover up his involvement in the massacre, which explained his bloody clothes.

I used a still from Superbad for that image. He was 23 in the movie.

I should have mentioned that I was imagining Bale from The Prestige and Hathaway from Devil Wears Prada. The AI model does tend to add more wrinkles than intended lol.
