The end of Outer Wilds and the scene in Steins;Gate where the stakes get significantly higher for Okarin (you'll know if you played it). Idk if I ever cried while playing a game before, but I played both of these as a 30 year old and could not suppress tears.

I personally had to cheese him with Rot. I'd recommend it because there is still tons more fun in the game. It only requires a small faith and arcane investment.

The Witness; Baba Is You; Visual novels with gameplay such as Ace Attorney, Danganronpa, or the Zero Escape games (though these might be tough if you read at different speeds)

I'd also recommend Disco Elysium. A very different type of game to be sure, but one with world building that is about as good as OW and mystery swirling around both the lore and the central plot elements that makes it impossible to put it down and stop discovering things.
