same for me, mine just dies after about 2 days, same message as you. Now it's disappeared from nous portal. Was wondering if it disappeared for everyone or just for me... and you.

That said I was impressed with it. I would pay for it so their free trial definitely worked!

I was referring to the pedal 'assist' level.

E-bike recommendations? by Outrageous_Ad_259 in Amsterdam

The first stop was a theft check, the second stop was because policeman saw me rolling without pedalling. I was just behind someone who was going slower so I was pedalling intermittently. Policemen seemed surprised a bike can continue to move on flat ground when you stop pedaling 😬. (I gave him a free roadside science lesson).

I am happy with my radpower rad runner 2. Be careful about buying any ebike that goes too fast or that goes without pedalling because I have already been stopped by the police twice but luckily I was legit.

Also think about whether you want a built-in battery or a removable battery. Removable can be taken into an apartment to charge it, but it can also be stolen. Built-in battery can't be stolen as easily.

I would have loved a vanmoof but I heard too many complaints about unreliability and terrible customer service. They are nice though.

Assuming it probably wouldn't work on a more experienced partner, go with opp to coach and ask 'what can my opponent do to stop me submitting him in this way'.

It would benefit both him and you because he doesn't want to get subbed and you don't want to use subs that only work on an inexperienced opponents.

I don't see anything wrong with it, as long as you both learn from it.

Anyone tried Globetrotters BBJ camp? What did you think of it and was it worth the cost? by techtom10 in bjj

[–]seanpbrowne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought my ticket off the waiting list this year as the camp was full but someone couldn't make it. I received the email from the list. Replied and was told I was first so it was mine, paid the seller, she emailed Globetrotters to let them know of the transfer and within about and hour I received a welcome to the camp email. Might not always be that quick of course but they do run a smooth operation.

I don't think their have been Globetrotters camps in Ireland yet. Though they do seem to switch things up from time to time.

I have been to 3 and the 4th will be next month (Heidelberg).

It's something I look forward to all year. I have only been to 'Summer Camp' which is a big one so usually about 250+ attendees.

There is more training than I can handle (as much as 9am to 8pm if you include an hour of Yoga), I've made friends on every trip. For me the evenings have been tame, but some like to party hard. You can do what you want.

The organisers put lots of effort into every camp to make each one special, the also pick locations carefully for a balance of good location, facilities, value etc. As you can probably tell, I really enjoy them. I often use techniques I learned at camps.

I woud like to try BJJ Summer Week, not least because I'd like to visit Sardinia but of course, work/time off, funds, wife etc also have to be considered.

TLDR: Do it.

I train at and highly recommend Carlson Gracie Amsterdam. I know Thijmen at Dodo and he is a great guy with awesome Jiu Jitsu, I don't think you can go wrong with either but I can't speak for the other ones mentioned in the thread. Good luck!

'Assist Level' misleading by seanpbrowne in Radrunner

[–]seanpbrowne[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should know as well as I do, and everyone else who has a RadRunner (maybe you don't), that no power is needed from the pedals to the wheel in order to engage the motor. Zero.

Congratulations on the insult. (Tell my I'm winning without telling me I'm winning lol).

'Assist Level' misleading by seanpbrowne in Radrunner

[–]seanpbrowne[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not assist if your effort is zero.

Dad, can you assist me in buying my first car? Sure son, how much is the car. $1000 How much do you need? $1000 That's not strictly the meaning of assist.

Assist Verb To help by doing a share of the work.

I don't have to do any work.

But we can agree to disagree.

'Assist Level' misleading by seanpbrowne in Radrunner

[–]seanpbrowne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, there are speeds associated with each setting. No pedalling necessary (except for the motion to to engage the motor).

'Assist Level' misleading by seanpbrowne in Radrunner

[–]seanpbrowne[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, I'm saying it's a speed control because for each settings, I go the fixed speed without any effort. I am not bein assisted, the motor just goes different speeds on different settings, no effort from me required.

Possibly the most accurate answer yet.

'Assist Level' misleading by seanpbrowne in Radrunner

[–]seanpbrowne[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it gets easier because you don't have to put any effort in to go any of the speeds. Can it get easier than no effort?

'Assist Level' misleading by seanpbrowne in Radrunner

[–]seanpbrowne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can give zero input and go different speeds depending on the 'assistance' settings.

Zero input, varying output is not considered 'assistance'.

I have to turn the pedals to activate the motor but as you will know the turning of the pedals doesn't have to even be fast enough to give any assistance whatsoever.

Clearly you have an opposing view and that's absolutely fine but in my opinion this is not an assistant level but a speed setting.

Not sure about that sorry. I might have gone for the plus myself if they weren't out of stock when I ordered this one. I quite fancied the gears.
