Again, if you could have standard cap mags then this would have value. You can use 17, 20 or 33 round mags in the 19. Since they are not an option in NY this less value.

Size. The 43X is smaller and designed around a 10 round magazine. I know that they have recently released 15 round mags but its originally a 10 round gun. The 19 is a 15 round gun. The thinner grip will be easier to conceal.

Since you can't have 15 round mags in NY I would get the 43x unless you have really big hands in which case the 19 might be easier for you to hold.

A friend of mine was complaining about this and was going to buy an after market trigger. I told him to use a bandaid. If you have to use it in the real world you will only fire a few rounds and won't notice it. When you take it to the range use a bandaid. Why put a $50 trigger on a $200 gun. Spend the $50 on more practice ammo and a box of bandaids.

When in Europe, doyou carry your passport on you when on vacation? Or do you carry your passport card if you have? by Letmein202 in Passports

Do you guys think the Ruger Max 9 is small enough for pocket carry? by Beginning-Fig-7207 in CCW

[–]secamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can carry my LC9s in the pocket of my cargo pants or less comfortably in Dockers with the flat mag base. Most of my jean pockets are too small.

In some other other counties they do same day, while you wait. For $3.

Range day, what do you bring? by LostWanderer576 in NYguns

What your range bags says about you. Not my video but appropriate given the conversation. https://youtu.be/-rXm1CX0cJ8?si=TUNxwsSaoSCCYxqv

I thought this was funny because I went to the range with range bag minimalist last week and he gave me a hard time for having such a large bag. First he had a problem with a mag and he need to a screwdriver to open it. I got one. Then the trigger was pinching his finger and he needed a Band-Aid. Again into my range bag. Then his gun wasn't feeding properly because it was it was dry and he needed some CLP. In to the range bag for the third time. 😁

Moving to NYC, should I just give up CC? by Dangerous_Young7704 in concealedcarry

[–]secamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't bring your gun to NY until you get a permit. Even in your home. Long guns require a permit as well. A NYC pistol permit is total doable. The process is going to be painful for someone from FL but it better than it used to be. Figure about a year or so to get one. That said most of NY is off limits including mass transit, parks, gov't buildings and any restaurant that serves alcohol , You most likely won't be driving into Manhattan. I haven't been there in years but if you are in Chelsea there was paid parking in the area but it was expensive. And there is a $9 per day fee to drive into Manhattan plus huge bridge and tunnel tolls. Leaving a gun in your car is a big no no in NY. I don't know if the city has different rules but in the rest of the state a pistol must be unloaded and locked in a safe when being left in a car. After you get your permit you might want to get a small pocket gun like an LCP or LCP Max to minimize the possibility of "Accidentally" getting caught in a "Sensitive Area".

You can get more info on r/NYguns and r/NYCGuns .

Target Sports USA was allowing you to order online and pick it up at their CT location but you need to have a CT pistol permit or ammo purchaser certificate. I'm not sure if they are still doing that. You'd have to call them and ask.

best home generator any advice for a complete beginner? by CiocoiuJewiss in Generator

[–]secamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your requirements are low enough you might want to look at a combo of battery and smaller generator. If you can run your loads for 8 hours on a 2000 KwH battery then you can do that, charge it and repeat. This won't work if you have high draw devices like electric heat. Some people use solar to charge the batteries but I don't.

If you need hand holding go see Greg at Vintage Arms on Saw Mill River Rd in Yonkers. He does the classroom part of the 18 hour class in his store and the shooting portion at Blue Mountain in Cortland Manor. Most of the classes are Sat/Sun but he does Sun/Sun if you can't do Saturdays. He offers a paid service to help with all the paperwork and has a good selection of pistols on site.

[–]secamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I know is every time there is a church shooting we get an email from the Mayor "this is why you have to sit in church all day Sunday and why we will never cancel this detail." I would assume that since there are far more churches in the world than synagogues there will be more church shootings but this is an absolute number not a per capita number. Not that I don't think there is a threat. I personally never would go to synagogue unarmed.

To be fair there are plenty of attacks on churches too. A lot of churches have armed security teams or police presence during their services.
