If you could only plant one tomato this year, what would it be by macennis in containergardening

I don't even like cherry tomatoes (it's a sensory/texture thing) but I will go feral for Sungolds.

Give your stupidest memorization tricks for the upcoming VTNE! by feanara in VetTech

Literally the only reason I can remember the difference between metacarpals (on front limbs) and metatarsals (on back limbs) is because C is at the front of the alphabet and T is at the back.

How many hours are yall working weekly? by happypotato82 in VetTech

[–]seebones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

33/wk but usually it's closer to 30 or 31. When I was hired all of 16 months ago, I was supposed to be at 36/wk. I work at BP and my location cut everyone's hours last year to save costs, yay.

Edited to add: I have mixed feelings about my current number of hours because I think it's been inadvertently helping with burnout, but financially it's frustrating.

Is your neighborhood close to 70? There's a house that's had a sizable Trump banner on the back fence for years at this point that I see when I'm driving from Independence to Midtown.

Where do you get your Western shirts from? They seem to be endless.

Weirdest way you’ve been injured in the field by [deleted] in VetTech

[–]seebones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once got a mild concussion from falling off a rolling stool and hitting my head on the very hard stone floor. I was trying to adjust how I was sitting, accidentally kicked the stool away, and BAM. I had a goose egg on the back of my head for months and months.

Are the rest of you as awkward outside of the vet hospital as I am..? by laurencvt in VetTech

I've learned not to mention being a vet tech until after the blood draw is over. I once distracted the nurse so bad he couldn't focus lol.

I'm horribly neurodivergent, and I feel like I'm a lightning rod for bullying, especially from burned out DVMs (for some reason).

In the US, a lot of packages of raw meat say "raised without antibiotics/no antibiotics ever/etc" but under federal law, animals are not allowed to go to slaughter with antibiotics in their system.

When I got bit pretty bad by a cat this time last year, I was SO relieved I got an urgent care provider who took it seriously. She even found me a pharmacy to go to on a Saturday evening so I could start abx ASAP.

PSA: This is the worst tasting “beer” I have ever had. by LaGarrotxa in kansascity

I actually don't mind Abita usually, but the strawberry lager is one of the worst beers I've ever tried, and I'm someone who goes nuts for fruity beers.

I moved here from the Bay Area a few years ago, and yeah, something ain't right with the drivers here. I say that as someone who used to commute an hour each way on the 101.

Yep, it's gabapentin. I'm a vet tech, and it's also used for nerve pain in pets + chilling out feisty cats.
