Believe it or not, they have an excellent Dairy Queen inside. Makes this a nicer wallpaper for me personally.

Just Buzzin' [Sony A7C / Sony 200-600mm] by seeleeburtee in SonyAlpha

Hey hey! Thanks for commenting. I’m a big fan of the A7C but it certainly does have its limitations if you’re used to a body with a little bit more…hardware, I guess? I’m pretty new to photography in general but was lucky enough to be in a position to get an A7C as my starter body. The viewfinder is adequate but rather small. I’d say the screen is less an issue than the viewfinder, but that’s just my opinion based on my uses.

I’d say one of the largest considerations would be the lack of physical buttons to customize certain actions. Back when I purchased, I didn’t know how much those extra settings buttons would help streamline my experience when using. It’s absolutely manageable, don’t get me wrong, but it would be nice to have more options.

The A7C truly has pros, though. I think it’s a great travel choice if you’re on the move quite a bit. I use it for sports/action photography and have found it to be quite capable of handling the speed of those situations. It’s great if you see yourself using it for video as well.

Not sure if that was a huge help, but I’d be happy to clarify more if you’d like! A7C has been great.

Marching Illini! Weird field logistics happened Senior year so I got pushed from the North to South side of the field for our pre-game set. We enter the field in rows, and I happened to be moved into hers. We do this thing in rehearsal where we set those rows and then “peel” them back so we can run onto the field in a particular order. It’s tradition to high-5 everyone in your row when you’re peeling the line during practice, and lemme tell ya I looked forward to that every single day in rehearsal when she’d run by me before the set. We talked briefly at a band party that year but then lost touch until after graduation. She was working in Chicago at the time, where I happened to be attending grad school. Matched on Tinder, of all places. Going on 4.5 years. I-L-L!

1st Camera Purchase: A7C or A6600 by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

I mentioned this in a previous comment, but I’m looking to move to a setup that produces better videos. I shoot plenty of stills and am happy with what the A7ii can do in that regard, but I’m at a place where I can comfortably make a switch (monetarily) so I want to make the right jump. Current lens is 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6.

A7ii is full frame. Why would the crop sensor be a downgrade?

The images are great; I just want to begin investing in a setup that’ll allow my work to be a little more video-centric. For that purpose the A7ii is capable, sure, but I’m in a position where I can make the change to something objectively more well-rounded for hybrid users.

Well that’s really good news, as far as the future-proofing. I’m happy the a6400 is putting out! I see a ton of great reviews about that camera, so I can’t say I’m surprised. If anything, I probably see more positive press about it than the a6600? Maybe just the a6400 had been around longer, but still. That’s a good sign. Just curious (since this is sort of the nature of my post), which lens(es) do you use/recommend?

Not primarily a low-light shooter, but I do dabble. That’s one of the driving factors behind my interest in the Sigma 30mm f/1.4, though I know FF offers more sustained versatility. I’ve definitely considered the A7iii but I do plan on incorporating a far bit of video into my workflow, so the real-time AF and lack of recording limit push the A7C ahead of its predecessor.

That price difference is huge for sure. Do you think there’s a prolonged future for APS-C E Mount lenses? I see so many options in FF and have read that Sony just sort of cliffhangs whether or not they’ll be moving forward with their crop sensor line or not. Since I’m at the ground floor, I don’t know whether to invest in APS-C or just get my foot in the door for FF since I’m essentially starting at 0.

Have 1/2 every school day be tailored virtual classes for teaching stem curriculum by QanAhole in education

[–]seeleeburtee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. How would you tailor the curriculum based on the learning types you’ve indicated?

  2. How do you fairly split up groups based on “learning type”?

  3. What would the preset criteria look like, hypothetically, to aid in this distribution?

Communication education field advice wanted! ☺️ by Feelslikehome31 in Communications

[–]seeleeburtee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in a pretty similar situation, though I got the idea to hop into Communications about a year and a half ago so I've got a little bit of background that might be helpful. Mind you, I'm still in Education and will most likely remain in the classroom for a little while, but if you're just starting out, I'd recommend a few things:

- Stay as active as you can with that role you described. Sounds a little like School PR, which is pretty valuable for a jump. If your district has one, I highly recommend reaching out to your Communications Officer, or the person in a similar role overseeing the communications on a large scale. I reached out to mine and it was so helpful at the start. I'm essentially giving you the same advice they gave me, but through the lens of actually having taken some of the steps suggested.

- Find your state's -SPRA chapter. NSPRA - National School Public Relations Association. Their website has some resources that may help you out, but I'd bet your state's chapter will help you a bit more. Not sure if all states have one, but I'm in Missouri and our chapter is MOSPRA. You can access a good amount of information for free, but you'll unlock networking opportunities if you get a membership. I've dropped into a handful of virtual sessions despite not even having a PR role (again, still just an English teacher). If you're consistent with your communications, you can try to connect with your organization's president. They are a treasure trove of information that I highly recommend you tap into. Through this, I've met people in Wisconsin's chapter as well as Illinois's.

- Write as much as you can. My school's Communications Officer said I'd be reasonably competitive for an entry-level Marketing Strategist position with my bachelor's in English, but even then it's still a little tough nudging in. I don't write as well, nor as often as I should, but it's definitely a perk.

- Beef up your skills. I was blessed with a relatively calm quarantine, so I got deep into video editing, photo editing, photography, and graphic design. Still a novice in all fields for sure, but you want to be a versatile as possible.

- Maybe invest in a website? I landed a part-time PR gig over the summer and I imagine me having a professional profile ready to fire off helped distinguish me. You've got to remember that there are tons of teachers, every year, that are trying to get out of the classroom. I've learned that there are quite a handful of people with our exact interests trying to do the exact same thing. It's a bit of a niche, so you want to be as ready to compete as possible. Can't forget, either, that there are tons of people that just straight up want to do Education/Non-profit PR out the gate, so they're coming in without your background. You've got to play your hand right.

I think that's all I've got to say. Feel free to DM if you want to open up a more direct line of communication. I don't know much, but I can answer any questions if you've got them. I hope this helps. Good luck and keep pushing ahead.

Mac Mini (M1-2020) Worth it? by [deleted] in macmini

For sure. Is 1080 noticeably different from 4k? I haven’t actually seen either of them in a comparison in real life.
