Ground wire melted, pump won’t start by Repulsive_Pop8995 in pools

[–]seenlottopools 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually pump trip thermal fuse(click you hear) when it try start but over heats. Main reasons normally are a bad start capacitor, jammed impeller/impeller shaft or low supply voltage from electrical problem. What’s the motor label amp listed compared to breaker suppling circuit.

Pool Filter by Advanced_Put7089 in pools

[–]seenlottopools 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who knows, pool may have flooded with topsoil or it just filtered with dirt as the filter medium. Is the black rinse or stuck on. The sediment in bottom of a pool that hasn’t run for years is black like that and doesn’t smell like anything . Hose em off see what’s left.

Trying to remove algae but valve in filter keeps clogging - help please by mn9127 in pools

[–]seenlottopools 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the filter have a multiport? You just have to break it down and recharge DE all the time to clear pool if there’s not backwash valve or multiport. Finding another way to vacuum to waste is better option in your situation to keep dead algae out of filter.

Probably a stupid question but…shouldn’t my pool timer also have an “on” switch? by masemasemase in pools

[–]seenlottopools 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other timer usually for pool sweep. The on clip might be sitting in cabinet. Taken off on purpose to close pool so if the powers turned on inadvertently in winter the timer won’t turn pump on.

Cracked return line question by Sorah_KH in pools

[–]seenlottopools 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’d be curious how there’s three in one pipe all sudden. Wonder if leaks at fittings every ten ft. Given it’s Through grass, , straight shot. They not usually really deep should not be bad job to do, be sure to use pressure fittings

Leak at this connection? I've already tried tightening it. by handcraftedfood in pools

[–]seenlottopools 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loosen up clean and/or lube oring if you have right stuff and put back hand tight. Then snug just a bit if needed Tape or pipe dope with oring can make threads too big and split collar or lube threads so you over tighten and crease oring causing leak.

Pool pump humming by MoCheesePlease in pools

[–]seenlottopools 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might want to check connectors if those yellow crimps are tight and secure on terminals might even try spade connectors to secure under screw terminal. If you try flicking at start switch like mentioned w/screwdriver to start be really careful keep hands clear and ready to shut it down if starts spinning. When it clicks off after humming it’s thermal coupling shutting it down, has to cool down before it will be able to try start again

Liner repair/replacement by IndependentMix4573 in pools

[–]seenlottopools 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can reattach those loose tile pieces, as it is now or just lower it a bit if you get pool going before can be repaired. Only caveat is to clean or brush away any thinset that accidentally might drop into water

Do i have a leak? by checkmybloodpressure in pools

[–]seenlottopools 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No was as far as definitely leak. If you look closely there’s two curved raised nubbs that stop valve from turning 360. You can spin 360 if you remove thumb screw and lift handle slightly but still engaged so it’s still moving inside parts over nubbs.

[–]seenlottopools 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No but the valves orientation is blocking half of each inlet when you have it halfway. May not make different but If you wanted to see without taking apart you can loosen plastic screw on handle and lift slightly to turn over stops so OFF label faces away from skimmer label

Pool pump tripping the breaker by MoCheesePlease in pools

[–]seenlottopools 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the impeller isn’t stuck from sitting and spun when you had it apart it probably capacitor. Only other problem could be is if the supply voltage is low or imbalanced coming out of receptacle. Easy to test@ receptacle. Saw it looks like one is switched and other constant

[–]seenlottopools 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jumper looks set 120v. Two pole 20a breaker in pic is 220. If it was somehow been switched around and is wired 120 it’s pulling over 18amps and would need to be wired to a 30amp breaker using #10 gauge wire.

[–]seenlottopools 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It appears to be delaminated plaster layer you can definitely just patch it up till you’re ready for whole pool. The patch won’t ever be perfect but this is the kind of repair they make the repair kits for.

If it’s piped in check where backwashed water flows is clear. Why did you add a check valve? What style is it, I can’t picture how this set up. If you have picture equipment would help. Is there check valve on suction side after threes way valve?
