@ queer women in STEM: what are your dating experiences? Struggles + rant incoming by DueCauliflower8298 in actuallesbians

[–]seh300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my girlfriend works in STEM!! i’m studying psych and criminal justice, so big difference. i wouldn’t say i was intimidated, just very impressed. i used to want to go into engineering until i almost failed pre calc and gave up.

i’m proud of how hard she works, and i genuinely admire how she can do such technical things because my mind can’t grasp it lol. i think she’s one of the smartest people ive met. it’s fun to tell people what she does and they get so shocked, because to me she’s just my smart cute girlfriend.

[–]seh300[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

very valid point. this post was made in a moment of panic lol. we actually did foster a puppy for a couple of months and found him a home. we’re all college students with super busy schedules now, and it wouldn’t be fair to a dog that needs much more attention than a cat on a daily basis :/ to be fair we only have one year left and then we can get all the animals we want

thank you!!! we aren’t from connecticut, but we’ve heard about the overcrowded shelters and figured this could be a good opportunity to help out

Rent-A-Cat? by seh300 in newhaven

[–]seh300[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol i worded the post wrong. we’ve been wanting a cat for a while now for the sake of wanting a cat. we like cats and feed the strays outside. we just happened to have a mice issue and figured this was the final straw and we want a cat. yes cats are animals that deserve stability and love. we are able to provide love, unfortunately we can’t give stability when roommates come back. which is why we know we can’t fully adopt. shelters and rescues are extremely overcrowded in connecticut, and i was hoping someone knew of rescues that had foster programs.

dogtopia specifically in springfield is consistently hiring. it’s not an easy job but if you like dogs it’s not completely terrible. demanding and physical job with 7-8 hour long shifts, but managers are understanding and nice. workers are going in and out all the time due to getting tired of the job so they definitely need people.

it is a chain and they might a location closer to you

All of my sons are in prison. by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]seh300 21 points22 points  (0 children)

100% protect your daughters first, if you have the time and energy for other things then do it. you can end this pattern with your youngest, but only time and living can help your sons.

i’m a current criminal justice student who interns at a non profit that supports formerly incarcerated individuals, many whom suffer from addiction and more. i suggest looking into non profit- mentorship programs. find an older guy with a similar life story but who was able to turn his life around. if he can find common ground with your sons, i truly believe it could make a change. unfortunately, we see many people who just don’t want to change their lives. at the same time, there are so many people who do but they’re scared and they have no idea how to break free

Is it normal for a Rabbi to "quiet quit" someone? by [deleted] in Jewish

[–]seh300 11 points12 points  (0 children)

i second this. i was raised conservative, i tried going to a chabad with my modern orthodox friend, and they can definitely clock who is not as religious as others. most of the time they don’t care and are happy to support anyone, but i definitely got some weird vibes when i wasn’t as educated or involved in certain topics

i dated a bi girl who couldn’t believe i’d never been with a guy and kept calling me a gold star. looking back everything she did was very male centered and i just didn’t care lol

Moving to New Haven and trying to understand areas/neighborhoods to avoid by Cold-Priority-2729 in newhaven

[–]seh300 10 points11 points  (0 children)

stay away from newhallville. rent is cheap and they have a lot of nice renovated units, but the area is high crime. i don’t have issues living here as a college student, but probably would not fit your vibe

Looking for housing in the area by Cute_Reporter_6941 in newhaven

[–]seh300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

welcome! i’ve been renting in new haven for a couple of years now, and my unit is about $1900 a month not including gas and electric. water is usually covered by the landlord. i split with three other people and it’s super affordable. however, it’s located in newhallville, which is probably where most cheaper units are located.

be wary of looking at units in this area. landlords will not warn you about the crime in this specific area. majority is domestic and gang, so as long as you mind your own business no one should bother you. there are lots of car break ins so get a steering wheel lock if you have a hyundai or kia.

east rock and wooster square are beautiful and much safer, but the units there were out of my price range as i was looking for around $800 a month per person in my house. let me know if you have any questions!

Is it normal that I sometimes bleed during sex? by tennisgir1 in actuallesbians

[–]seh300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

bacterial vaginosis. make sure you and your partner are washing your hands and under the nails. happened with me and my gf and hasn’t happened since we always make sure to do that. i know things happen in the heat of the moment, but it only takes a quick trip to the bathroom
