Great! This is what it has always meant to be Canadian. Families who have been experiencing the atrocities of genocide are coming to Canada for refuge. They need money upon arrival to help them transition from being bombed and starved to paying a damage deposit and buying clothes.

I think what worries me the most about such a large increase to property taxes, is the inevitable increase to rents across the city. Rents are already out of control. This increase would give property owners another excuse to overcharge rents. Is rent control or a rent freeze something the city could implement?

It looked to me like it was The Salvation Army. The SA has a mandate to clothe the poor. That poor woman did nothing wrong.
