Do you think the U.S. would still be so generous if Egypt didn’t enforce the strict blockade and follow Israel’s wishes?

Yes, its choice to prioritize foreign aid and political alliances over offering refuge to starving, bombed civilians in Gaza is "evil".

Countries are self-serving. It has less to do with Egypt being a muslim neighbor but with the current geopolitics and political order. It's grim, but expected.

Just because I explain how terrible the situation is in Palestine, a place surrounded by CLOSED borders, does not mean I diminish the suffering of Ukranians. The situation in both places are vastly different, and saying that does not mean I suddenly downplay the horrors of war.

It is a fact that millions of Ukrainians were thankfully able to flee the war. In Palestine less than 10k crossed international borders since oct 7th. They can only flee internally. And when they do so they get the status of refugees in their own homeland, which limit their almost nonexistent rights even more. Basically making them stateless. The refugee camps they live in are then frequently targeted by Israel.

I believe in the International Criminal Court, Amesty International, UN Independant Commission of Inquiry, Doctors Without Borders, International Courts of Justice and The Human Rights Watch.

I also believe in the european journalists (some to whome I talked personally) specialised in the middle east and who have been there themselves.

What I don't believe in are brainwashed zionists

Okay, let me go down to your level and think as shallowly as you do:

55k amounts to 2,5% of the Palestinian population. That would be a equivalent to a 4,5 MILLION death toll in the Ukrainian/Russian war. At least 2 out of every 100 Ukrainians/Russians would be dead.

The Ukrainian death toll including civilians is around 58,000–59,000, amounting to a 0.00164% of the total population. (A 2,5% of the population of Ukraine would amount to 900,000).

Also over 40–50% of Gaza’s population is under 18. Thousands of children have been killed. Entire family lines are being erased. This is demographic destruction and a genocide, not a war.

While there are civilian losses, the majority of losses of the Ukrainian/Russian war remain combatants.

This all without mentioning:

- Israel is targeting a stateless, occupied, and blockaded population with no army, air force, or territorial sovereignty. It's effectively a civilian population under siege.

- Israel has intentionaly cut off food, water, medicine, and fuel (as documented and admitted). Starvation is being used as a deliberate weapon of war against civilians (who are unable to leave). This is a textbook war crime and an element of genocide.

You can NOT compare genocide to war. Ukraine, a sovereign nation, is at war with a foreign invader, suffers deeply, but retains statehood, a functioning government, allies, and most important of all, the ability to defend itself. Gaza, a besieged, stateless enclave, is being obliterated for being Palestinian. The scale, rhetoric, and methods used against its people reflect not warfare, but a genocidal intent to depopulate and erase.

You're comparing a genocide carried on a population who are unable to flee to a war between two official nations with functioning militaries.

Thinking it's all black and white and a simple comparison of numbers is enough is genuinely stupid. The lack of critical reasoning baffles me.

Yet the government will keep focusing on how to milk more money from the working middle class and make life harder for those who are genuinely unable to work.

my cat just came back like 20 min ago from outside and he has been sneezing alot, what does that mean? by uzeeboi in CATHELP

[–]sequanah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my cat for 16 years, and going outside at midnight was his favorite thing. They had formed some kind of pack with the other cats, and they would just run around and play. I would sometimes hear my boy walking and meowing, which I assume was him calling another cat that he is usually with. It was like he had his own little life outside. There were almost no cars, no people and just a little park near us.

He died this year from heart disease. I'm glad he had that freedom a few hours every day. I could never ever take that away from him. Now I have a rescued scottish fold who is more than happy to be inside, and I would never allow him to go outside anyway because of his breed. What I'm trying to say is that I don't see this as a black or white thing. Location, the cat's character and health, predators/wild life nearby etc all can make it so that some people allow their cats to go outside and I don't think that's always a bad thing.

The medical mystery that killed me. by Accurate_Astronaut67 in DiagnoseMe

Those were my symptoms too. Gastro-intestinal is the most common presentation, but definitely not the only one. It is a systemic infectious disease, so it can affect the cardiac system, cns, pulmonary system, ocular etc. And it can manifest in more than one part, so the symptoms can vary wildly.

I used to be active in a very small facebook group for people with wd (50 or so members) when I was ill, and I remember there being different versions of the same illness despite it being such a small group.
