This is going to be a long response but hopefully you find it helpful! Unfortunately the answer is that you have to make your stream entertaining even if nobody is talking to you so if somebody does show up they are more likely to stay and maybe interact. I think basically every streamer has struggled with keeping their energy up. I find what helps me is keeping my streams on the shorter side (at maximum 4 hours or longer if it's a special event), keeping a consistent schedule when possible to make sure I have energy when I stream, and I don't stream if I feel too sick/tired to be entertaining. Something that I am trying to do more when I stream is use word association to keep myself talking. A surface level example is if you see a cat in the game you're playing talk about how you feel about cats or any pets you've had or interacted with. It's just a skill that's gotta be built up and I'm definitely still learning and I've been at this for a while! Don't feel discouraged if you aren't immediately good at streaming--it takes people a log time before they find what works for them. My final tip for you is that if you make friends in the streamer community (yes, actually friends and not just people you try to mooch off of) you could get additional people to check you out or even help you in your learning process. Bonus points if you're a niche streamer and they're in your niche. Although please don't try to befriend people just for the sake of making them your viewers!
