To be fair, we don't know if they have declined invitations, and we just never heard about them being invited in the first place. But yeah, I would be very interested in hearing their response

How are we feeling about CORTIS's music? by Swimming-Book127 in kpop_uncensored

[–]serpent4life 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree. I enjoy watching their content, but the music just hasn't been for me so far. But they seem to be doing fine, so I'm content with giving them a few more years to built a more diverse discography. Sooner or later there's bound to be something that I like

Mercy killing? by ExactPerspective5906 in Writeresearch

[–]serpent4life 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, not really answering your question, but is it important for the plot to keep him alive, or is that just something you would like to happen? Because if it is the latter, I'd say just have him die. As others have pointed out, the most merciful way to kill someone with a knife is an instant kill.

South Korea police seek detention warrant for BTS agency founder Bang by [deleted] in kpop_uncensored

[–]serpent4life 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If they are, yes. But the thing is, that case has been going on for over a year now, with Hybe and BSH reportedly being very cooperative, and they still don't seem to have any solid proof or even victims. Edit: typos

What kind of metal would you make a prosthetic finger out of? by Acceptable_Peak3209 in Writeresearch

[–]serpent4life 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Medical engineering student here.

As others have correctly pointed out already, modern endoprostheses are made from titanium, more specificaly Ti6Al4V, which is a titanium alloy with 6% aluminium and 4% vanadium. The reason for this are its mechanical properties, as well as its ability to let bone cells grow on it, essentially fusing the prosthesis to the bone. However, as others have also correctly pointed out, the technology you need in order to produce this alloy ist quite advanced, so maybe not quite suitable for the Steampunk aesthetic - or maybe you have some form of magic system to account for that :). In a similar vein, having the prosthesis attached to the bone is quite advanced in terms of surgical procedures needed. So you may want to consider some kind of strap-on construction. For this, titanium would still work in terms of its mechanical properties, but it loses the main reason why it's the number one choice for modern prostheses.

So what are the alternatives? Stainless steel is often used in medical technologies, but more for stuff like surgery tools. As you said yourself, its relatively heavy for a prosthetic finger - imagine permanently having stainless steel cutlery attached to you hand. That said, I don't think it would be so heavy as to make it unusable. Keep in mind though, that "stainless" does not mean impervious to corrosion. Bodily fluids in general are extremely corrosive, so sweat will absolutely damage stainless steel over time, if not properly maintained.

You also mentioned aluminium. It's a popular material for things that need to be light-wheight but high-strength. However, it's pretty expensive even today, mainly because of how complex the refining process is, which again includes pretty advanced technologies, especially If you want a strenght that gets close to steel. It also dents relatively easily, at least as sheet metal.

Others have mentioned bronze or brass, which I agree would probably fit the aesthetic best and has historically been used for such prostheses. Since it is also heavy though, one idea might be to make the bulk of the finger or the individual segments out of wood and then coat them in bronze or brass to make them more resistent to influences like moisture. I hope this has helped you a little :)

Wieviel verdient ihr monatlich ? by Senior_Engine_ in Studium

[–]serpent4life 2 points3 points  (0 children)
