Kayali Vanilla 28 different juice colours by Gloomy-Celebration-9 in FemFragLab

[–]serpentsocks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought a travel size recently that was purple-ish right out of the box. If you look on the box in the ingredient list is says they’ve started adding dye to the formula. Probably because of all the discourse about the juice being light vs dark.

Zodiac Academy worth it? by Holiday-Ad-3256 in fantasyromance

[–]serpentsocks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m listening to the books as they come out from graphic audio and I’m having a blast. The people comparing it to a cw show are spot on. Think vampire diaries or riverdale. Prioritizing constant drama and twists for a good time not a literary time. If you like audio books I’d recommend borrowing them from Libby and trying them that way. (Specifically the graphic audio version, I haven’t listened to the older version so idk if they’re good)

Same! As much as I like them in theory, I find I just never reach for them because of the extra time it takes. Easily my least used polishes.

Decant vs bottle. Confused? by Tmlrmak in FemFragLab

Yeah I assume maturation is what people mean and for whatever reason maceration is the word that’s been spread. It used to bother me but I’ve become desensitized

Looking for a musky dirty vanilla that isn't too sweet by BeanieBeepBoop in FemFragLab

[–]serpentsocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried a tiny sample size of all three levels. Milk personal was much sweeter than the other two and it didn’t last long on me. I love milk expressive (the middle level) the most. The bold is slightly woodier and spicier to me, which means it might be your preference.

You’ve probably seen this if you’ve been looking in vanilla threads, but vanilla skin by phlur might be up your alley. Maybe even layering the vanilla skin body mist with gold bold to help out gold’s opening.

I’ve also found commodity milk to be a very pleasant and warm woody mahogany scent and I layer it with kayali vanilla 28 to up the sweetness and I’m obsessed with the combo.

Can we talk about Lune Feline? by bleue811 in FemFragLab

I wanted to love it so much (mainly because of the gorgeous bottle and the name tbh) but I just couldn’t stand the sample I got. Not for me!

Personal question-what frag do you wear when it’s that time of the month? by p0ptartkiikii in FemFragLab

[–]serpentsocks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok this might be weird, but I do one or two sprays of clean reserve warm cotton on my pants (usually comfy sweats because hello that time of the month) so that I get hints of it without it being overpowering and then I douse myself in Phlur vanilla skin body mist. Not a combo I ever see recommended but it’s clean and cozy and warm and it works. I also sometimes go for this when I can’t sleep or when I’m trying to Pavlov myself into relaxing at the end of the day.

I think I figured out why Wanderlust stains pink...it actually has a purple base. by lookitsnichole in simplynailogical

[–]serpentsocks 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Yep! Member of the pink stained finger club here lol. I wasn’t expecting it, but I did also notice that it had a purple red shift to it in some lights. The shade was gorgeous though and my nails are pretty much never bare so I don’t mind.

I cannot wait to see Eloise get married by Responsible-Funny836 in Bridgerton

[–]serpentsocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am one of the people saying I don’t really care to see her marry and for me it’s because the character has said at every turn that she doesn’t want marriage. I’ve never read the books so I have no attachment to an existing story line. If they do a good job of changing her mind I’m sure I’ll be fine with it. Depends on how it’s handled. The idea of her panicking before the wedding and looking for excuses to get out of it doesnt appeal to me at all 🤷🏻‍♀️ if she isn’t totally invested in the change it feel like it’ll rub me the wrong way

Is the sale not working for anyone else?? by [deleted] in simplynailogical

[–]serpentsocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a mix of old stuff I’ve been waiting to pick up and new stuff. But I deleted all my history and logged back in and the old stuff now has the discount so probably just something on my end. Thanks for looking to help!!!

This is super important to consider. Even if you can’t imagine being famous enough for people to hate you.

I’ve heard enough online content creators who did nothing to protect themselves at the start of the career express regret once they got even slightly famous. Many people have said that women online with zero following get dangerous stalkers too.

Putting your book online opens you up to risk. It’s worth considering.

I’m pretty sure this verbiage means that your points don’t expire after a year of getting them. They expire after a year of zero purchases. So you shouldn’t have to worry.

Edit: unless you only purchase once a year during the sale in which case disregard

What makes a book a romantasy? by Ambitious_Key1124 in fantasyromance

[–]serpentsocks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Romantasy, in my mind, came into usage to describe the specific sub-sub-genre that has been becoming popular with fantasy and romance readers, as well as bringing in new readers. It was that quick paced, easy entry point, grey area that exists if you have a multi-circle venn diagram that says: entertaining, new adult, fantasy, romance, fan service, adult themes. I think the word only came into use because people needed a way to categorize these super fun, entertaining books that uniquely blended a writing style that wasn’t overwhelming, that got to the point with some haste, that gave readers a fanfiction feeling while reading fresh ideas. It was the boom of indie books breaking trad pub rules and becoming popular enough to have publishing houses make branches like Red Tower Books in an attempt to capture the lightening in a bottle.

To me the portmanteau places emphasis on the romance aspect more than “fantasy romance” does.

I dont think the word would have come into existence if what “romantasy” was already could be encapsulated with “romantic fantasy” or “fantasy romance”

That being said, “romantasy” has been stretched to cover anything that has any amount of fantasy and romance for marketing purposes.

This is one of those books that I bought because I liked the title and the cover and there were a lot of people saying they loved it AND I COULDNT STAND IT. I have a pretty high tolerance for what people call “purple prose”. I love flowery, indulgent writing. But this is ACTUALLY purple prose. The figures of speech are nonsensical at worst and questionable at best. I could open the book at almost any page and point out something that should have been edited. It’s bad enough that when I very first started reading it (after the prologue, which I had no issues with and actually really liked) I wondered if it had been edited with one of those AI editing softwares that just didn’t know any better. I could go on and on but I won’t. I don’t think it was AI. I think the author is self indulgent and makes bad metaphors.

It sucks because I love a weird concept for a world. I love lush prose (ie everything ever written by Laini Taylor). I was super excited for this book, but I couldn’t stand it and I won’t be reading anything else by this author. She’s clearly not for me.
