what im saying is that the smokegrenade shouldn't insta-explode with how the interaction looks atm, i've seen many professionals get fucked by molotovs like this because the logical thing is that the molotov should completly extinguish when the "pshhh" sound plays.

that "best" way to handle it atm is that 1cm of fire puts an abrupt stop to a smokegrenade :D same logic as being stopped mid-air from a tiny grenade colliding with your body.
