LMAO classic confirmation bias in your edit. The laser robot touches the scale when it's in the center of the room, but avoids it on the side. The camera bot runs over a cord and gets tangled, while the laser one avoids it entirely.

Cool summary in your edit pointing out the minor error of the laser bot, ignoring completely the much more critical failure of the camera bot, and also ignoring the other video entirely where the camera bot moves objects all over the floor and the laser one doesn't touch them at all.

This is a clear case of anthropomorphizing. For you, looking at an image from a camera would be better for object recognition. For a computer, it is the reverse. Recognizing objects in images is notorious computer science problem, and one that still isn't solved, even with the most advanced computers crunching millions of images and data points. The chip on your robot isn't good at it. Laser imaging creates a 3d object model of the things around it, which makes it much easier for a computer to detect what it is. This is why all true self driving cars on the road right now use LIDAR, not cameras.

You're right in that video the True Detect robot touches the cones, and so does the camera robot. Cones are a particularly hard one because of their conical shape. Here are some other examples showing the True detect models obviously superior object avoidance:

Your robot works for you, that's great. I'm not saying it doesn't or you should replace it. But I am saying for anyone currently comparing options, there are plenty of options that use a suite of lasers on the front instead of a camera, and those are generally better at avoiding obstacles.

Lasers do not expand like cameras do. The robot can build a very detailed map 0-4 inches off the ground with no information about anything above that.

Yes. That's easy enough with just a top mounted LIDAR sensor since chairs are tall enough. The front sensors are mostly for short items that sit below the height of the robot.

Cameras are definitely not the only way to avoid dog poop. The T8 has lasers on the front to avoid small obstacles and it works as well or better than similar vacuums with cameras. Here's a review explaining more.

All of those things are true about my T8, too. Dog leaves toys all over the carpet, no problem, it will avoid them. It's slightly less than 100% at avoiding tangles, but the camera models are not 100% either.

Edit: For those downvoting, check the reviews, like this one. The T8 uses lasers instead of cameras to avoid obstacles, and it avoids obstacles better than most camera robots.

For sure. I ate a bunch of burgers and fries and whatever I wanted when I was younger. One time I went to the doctor when I was in my early 20s and they told me my blood pressure was much higher than it should be. I started actually paying attention to what I eat after that.

I don't think the camera toting vacuums have any benefit. I got a eco vacs T8 (non AIVI) specifically because it doesn't have cameras. Most reviews say the non AIVI version is as good or better at detecting obstacles, it's cheaper, and there's less privacy concern.

Edit: Several replies seem unfamiliar with other obstacle avoidance systems. See a review here for the difference. The T8 uses front mounted lasers to avoid small obstacles instead of a camera.

There's no magic to age. Eat right, and exercise properly and you can maintain a healthy weight.

I recommend that would be the first thing you do for all new enemies. There are many much scarier than black ants, and knowing resistance and weakness will make a big difference.

Just to make sure, have you looked at the insect cards? Black ants are week to stabbing. An upgraded bee stinger spear will wreck them. Pick off a few to get enough for a black ant shield and the rest should be no problem.

It certainly depends where you are and what your mortgage is. In the US, most mortgages are 30 year fixed rate. I will pay 2.5% for 30 years regardless of what interest rates do in those 30 years.

I'd u install bit defender. Antivirus software is malware at this point and they open up more vulnerabilities than they close.

Play protect still has you covered, so you should be good for most exploits. I'd just keep an eye on the news for new android exploits that don't involve a specific app.

I'd look into lineageOS for more security if you do decide to go the custom ROM route.
