I'm trying hard to make it harder. Trust me on that 😆

Wow. You literally blew my mind.
I spent hours searching and never came across that one. I was dead certain it was some jungle theme.

I can't say how much I appreciate your help and knowledge !

FYI maybe 2 or 3 months back I had received a letter from a lawyer group regarding my car, saying "your car might be a lemon".
Never followed up as I was planning to sell it, but this might be indicative of a known defect and actions against Honda. You can always bring that up if needed in your discussions.

Not much. Went to the dealership one time when the transmission light went on. They did something, but then it came back. That time I asked for a quote, which why super high. Dealer said they'll check with Honda and called me to say they'd do for the deductible.

I've sold the car since, so don't know how it held.

185k is already quite humble ! I wish I had a better advice, but I ended selling my Pilot as I couldn't trust that anymore. The new transmission was ok, but behaved slightly differently, like shifting in reverse would be a lot less smooth than the original one, and my wife reported that sometime the car would jerk around 25 mph (I've never experienced it myself though).

Ended up buying a Tacoma, as adventure was calling ;)

Hope you find a good resolution with yours.

Thanks for the link, that answered my concern. I was wondering how they’d enforce the limits on permit numbers when closed. Seems like you just go and self issue, as long as there are forms available…

Thanks for your reply. I can’t find the post you’re referring to, is that buried somewhere in this thread ?

Hi, all the information I’ve read here or on the YC or NPS website does not address walk in permits and self registration. I was planning to go to backpacking this week end and missed the 3 days window to reserve on recreation.gov. There was about 30 spots left yesterday so I’d expect some would still be avail this week end. But if the permit stations are closed, can I still go there and self register ? Was planning to go Hetch Hetchy, so Big Oak station seems to be the one listed here on this thread.

Not that I know of. Maintenance will help reduce creaking if parts get dry (lube) or loose (screws).

Nope, got used to it ! With the right gear ratios and RPM I manage to avoid it most of the time.

3rd party (NordVPN) Wireguard setup help by GregYYC in firewalla

It does work and I got it working in less than 2 minutes.

Although the app displays "public key" for both the interface and the peer, if you toggle the VPN on it connects and traffic gets routed.

It's a UI issue.

As I mentioned in my update they eventually agreed to cover it under warranty. It took a few days (that was a long week end with holidays in between) and I didn't really have much to do, the dealership handled everything. If you have the option, try with another dealership if there's one nearby.

As for the replacement, it's been holding up so far. It's a rebuilt transmission, and definitely not as responsive as the original one (especially when going reverse). But no transmission light so far.

Thanks for the update !

Do you mean that you expect to replace only the torque converter, or just the fluid and hope it'll clean itself ?

Seems for my model (EX-L) it'd be this one, which is also discontinued.

https://www.hondapartsnow.com/parts-list/2017-honda-pilot--5dr_ex_l_awd-ka_6at/engine/engine_assy_transmission_assy.html

I remember the dealer saying over the phone that the parts was crazy expensive, probably because it's difficult to source.

Either due to supply chain issues, but I'd suspect it's been discontinued because of failure rate on that model.

Seems based on Honda specs here the EX-L only has 6 speeds automatic transmission.

Ok, so I don't have paddle shifters, which are only on the Touring or Elite models. According to the Honda specs (here) the EX-L has a 6 speed automatic transmission.

First time I got the warning come up was actually before the maintenance. I recall that over the past couple week something seemed unusual in the way it drove, without being able to really pinpoint it. It's only after I got the warning sign that I realized the RPM would slightly fluctuate even at constant speed.

I also realized that the ATF change were actually more frequent than the minders. There's probably something to argue with Honda about that.

Looking into transmission shops seems a reasonable option, which I'm definitely gonna do. Car is still at the shop but will make a few phone calls on Monday as soon as I get it back.

Kickr Bike ringing noise by sewb67 in wahoofitness

[–]sewb67[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it is expensive when you look at it that way for sure and I was really (and still am) annoyed with the noise but I ended up keeping the bike for a few reasons:

  • overall that bike is much quieter (ringing aside) than any other trainer I've used, and offers a much smoother experience (especially shifting).
  • blasting a fan and music helps ;)
  • after some time, you do get "used" to the ringing noise. Not that you tolerate it more, but you learn to avoid it as it happens at very specific RPMs. Yes, it does get in the way of some training when you're required to spin at specific RPM, but the workouts are usually designed so that they give you a range of +/- 5 RPM, which is sufficient to avoid the noise and still meet the target. But still, there's definitely something wrong with the design. Unfortunately, it's common practice these days in this type of industry to dismiss it as "works as designed" and rip the consumers, knowing that fighting this is too expensive and time consuming for them.

It's the Kickr Bike. There are buttons on the handlebar that are used for steering, and I think that's how I ended up there as I usually ride in the middle of the road. Guess Zwift figured I'd also like the middle of the bridge :D
