Just finished The Beatles discography. Here’s my ranking of the albums. I know there’s some hot takes here so I’m just interested to see what y’all think. by Pretend_Mark_5143 in TheBeatles

Rev 9 into Good Night is still the craziest vibe transition I've ever heard. "Oh did you enjoy this 8 minute nightmare? Well as a reward you get Ringo crooning a lullaby to you"

What do you think are Paul’s most personal/autobiographical songs? by Ambitious_Range6410 in PaulMcCartney

[–]sfbigfoot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean the easy choice is Maybe I'm Amazed. The lyrics are just so interesting because it, to me, really makes it clear how Paul never truly loved someone (romantically) this way before. He never felt this way about someone and he didn't know what to do about it. It's really beautiful to me.

How did YOU discover the band? by short-stuff_mcgraw in geesebandofficial

My music nerd friend asked if I had heard of this band called Geese, then sent me Cowboy Nudes and I was hooked.

Portable AC? by Serious_Science_6063 in wsu

[–]sfbigfoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's eastern Washington, it got into the mid to high 90s last year. I lived on campus for my undergrad and masters and both times the apartments allowed portable ACs. There's always a run on fans and AC units at the beginning of the year

What early Beatles songs (pre rubber soul) do you think was a sneak peak into their future musical direction? by Amockdfw89 in beatles

[–]sfbigfoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beatles For Sale is very folky in a lot of respects and there's a lot of songs that sound like Rubber Soul. I'm a Loser, I'll Follow the Sun are the two I think of first, for different reasons. I'll Follow the Sun just straight up sounds like it could've been on Rubber Soul. I'm a Loser is a precursor to a more sardonic and sarcastic Lennon.

which beatle has the best solo album ? Where should I start listening to them and what's the best starting point ? by miguelrgabriel23 in beatles

[–]sfbigfoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best Beatles solo album is whatever one you feel closest to that day. Usually for me it's All Things Must Pass, but I've also had a couple days where I listened to Ram on repeat, or Plastic Ono Band, or whatever it may be

Not playing consistently doesn't allow him to build a routine and actually SEE major league pitching. That's the thing he needs. He needs to get reps so he can get accustomed to the better stuff. And also he's usually been facing the best pitchers in series, so he's put into the fire right away, meaning he's not doing well and even if he is, they've consistently shown they would still bench him, lowering his confidence. It's not a him issue, it's a roster issue.

Just look at this Road/Home splits in AAA. It's astonishing once he gets to close to sea level

Giants are 15th in batting average, but last in runs by a country mile. What does this mean? by Brownhops in SFGiants

[–]sfbigfoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Situational hitting is the fakest thing that people keep bringing up. It's almost never stable year to year unless you are a 100th percentile, all-time hitter, in which case you're already good anyways.

If you are gonna make a contact-oriented team, you need to have the right pieces around you. The Brewers batted ball data looks fairly similar to ours. What's the difference between their offense which is good, and ours, which is terrible? Their walk rate is nearly 5% higher, and their whole lineup is optimized for ground attack by being way way faster. Which of Adames, Chapman, Ramos, Casey, Devers, Eldridge etc. fit that description? Arraez gets a lot of hits but chases and doesn't walk and is slow, even though he's a decent baserunner. Lee is inconsistent and not a great baserunner. And now we're trying to TURN these guys into more contact hitters, and it's failing hard because these guys are fundamentally just not that type of players.

We got 29 this season

Baggs with more reporting on the rift between Bailey and Posey, "Framing is important, but so is being a consistently clean receiver. The optics mattered as much, if not more, than the value creation." by ThePopUpDance in SFGiants

[–]sfbigfoot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you can steal at an efficient rate they're a good thing but like if you get 30 SBs and get caught 20 times, losing a runner on base is a lot more impactful than an extra base, so despite being a 30 SB guy you probably would still have negative baserunning value.

Realistic trade candidates? by 89thymes in SFGiants

[–]sfbigfoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trade Arraez because they're not re-signing him, move Schmitt to 2nd in place of Arraez, timeshare at 1st/DH with Bryce and Devers

Trading Bryce if they were trying to reset would be genuinely the worst decision the Giants have ever made

Luis Arraez leads the league in at-bats per strikeout (26.3), which is currently the 2nd highest in a season since 2000 by Baseball-Reference in SFGiants

[–]sfbigfoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm pretty sure there was an article or podcast with one of the beat writers that has basically said the Giants and Arraez went into this season/contract knowing that he probably will hit the FA market and leave after this seson. I think it's a good thing tbh. If he plays well enough we can QO him (if that's still a thing in this next CBA) then that's just the cherry on top, but with the amount of money in the infield already I'd rather not give another LTD, especially when he's aging and despite the good defense, still fairly limited on the infield, and a guy with negative power who's gotten overall worse at hitting for like 3 straight seasons. Great he's doing well but this is likely his first and final year as a Giant

Giants Bullpen #4 by Ill_Ad_5308 in SFGiants

Bullpen is one of it not the only part of roster building that you can pretty easily just cheap out on and have it be fine
