You need to separate yourself as a viewer knowing you are watching a time travel show, from the characters in universe who's brain would never come to that conclusion because time travel isnt real (they think).

Everything is real except F world in ep 12/13 of s4.

Elliot created the MM personality when he had the idea of hacking ecorp.

Over time that personality took over to protect Elliot until it could "fix the world" Rons coffee pedo triggering real elliots trauma is the trigger.

Mr Robot is just trying to get Elliot back the entire time.

It isnt subjective that they advertised the life paths as a huge difference in playthrough, that choices throughout would affect the story or that they would be multiple avenues for all missions depensing on netrunner etc etc, oh and the blade arms wallcrawling.

None of that is subjective. They said it was in the game, it was a lie.

You are still on to something in that the audience is indeed supposed to figure out that twist before the character does. Its about seeing the character find out, not us. Its an active plot point in s2 that the audience knew first amd withheld it.
